A perfect book for kids of all ages100%!!!
If you read the first book in the series, The Saturdays , you probably will like the four-story mistake because it's like the first one , but different in someways. I think that you should try this book , because it is a good book for younger children and older children from 4 to 13 , in my Opinion anyone from 1 to 100 could read this book and enjoy it. I think that a grown-up could read this book probably and and enjoy it but I am a nine-year-old, what do I know about these things? I like this book because it is funny and one of the children plays piano which I love piano Music and I think that all of the characters in this book are very well imagined to. I am a big fan of the series and you might be too so you should try the series at all for yourself💙!!!

Excellent narration
Both my 5th grade class, as well as my children ages 8-18, all loved this reading of this wonderful book in the Melendy Quartet. In 5th grade we are working on understanding how a sentence and paragraph should sound when reading. The fabulous reading by Ms. Dillman was just what they needed, and they commented repeatedly how they loved her narration. I had plenty of quick readers, but their "prosody" was poor, which significantly affected their comprehension of the text. Hearing this excellent narration first helped them to enthusiastically enjoy this story and fall in love with the characters, which then lead to a much deeper and more accurate understanding of the text as well as increasing their interest in the vocabulary. This book was a stretch for 5th grade (more suited to slightly older students, though all ages will enjoy the story), but they had begged me for a book with a happy ending which is actually quite difficult to find now. All of my own children wanted to read and/or hear the other three books in the series after hearing this book.

A family favorite
We listened to this book many times, but we never tire of the Melendy family. Getting to return to these favorite characters as they unravel an old mystery the house has been hiding all while being genuinely and humorously themselves is a treat. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad, but always honest this is a family favorite. The narrator does an excellent job revealing the characters strengths and foibles.

Like new
I love sharing these stories with my children. I had read 2 of the stories before but not this one so I enjoyed listening with my children and learning more about the Melendys. My son rated it 4 out of 5 and my daughter 5 out of 5. The Melendez children’s lives are ordinary but extraordinary for our lives.
