Publisher's Summary

The Golden Couple is an addictive psychological thriller from Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen, the authors of the best-selling The Wife Between Us, that will keep you guessing to the very end.

Marissa and Mathew Bishop seem like the golden couple...until Marissa cheats. In a desperate attempt to repair her family, Marissa takes a chance on maverick therapist Avery Chambers, who lost her licence due to controversial methods.

If Avery Chambers can’t fix you in 10 sessions, she won’t take you on as a client. She helps people overcome everything, from domineering parents to assault. Her successes almost help her absorb the emptiness she feels since her husband’s death.

When the Bishops glide through Avery’s door and Marissa reveals her infidelity, all three are set on a collision course they never expected. Because the biggest secrets in the room are still hidden, and it’s no longer simply a marriage that’s in danger. Not all of them are who they seem, and matters are about to turn deadly....

It was a disappointing experience.

This book needs more work, more depth and more character.
The narrators should rather just read the book instead of trying to imitate different characters.

Another Avery book please

Brilliant , the journey was worth it and Avery is a character worthy of a series to see where she goes to next.

Disappointing

Starts off well then takes a random turn and descends into ridiculous, over-plotted, unoriginal drivel.

Didn’t see that coming!

Usually I’m pretty good at spotting a twist, but this one got me! Brilliant characters and a unique plot, definitely recommend.

I finished cause I started simply put

As far as thrillers go not that great. I only finished cause I started. Characters were average and I guessed the plot so no actual surprise there. Book didn't leave me wanting more and when it was finished it was like oh well finished. If you looking for book that grips you and keeps you on the edge this is not the one lm afraid.

Slightly disappointing

The “Marisa” voice was sickly sweet and hard to take at times & the story wrapped up a bit too neatly at the end for my liking, but it’s worth a listen.

The voice for Marissa is annoying

Predicable and a slow burner. The voice actor for Marissa has a horrible whistle to some of her words and it really started to get on my nerves. The men in the book are also voiced by the female voice actor and it just sounds ridiculous

one dimensional

This was OK. Nothing wrong with the story; I really liked the concept. However, the characters didn't develop very well. Because of this, I found myself not really drawn into the story as I wasn't particularly bothered about what happened to them. The narrator did a good job. Would rush to recommend this book sadly.

Kept me guessing

I couldn’t stop listening as there were breadcrumbs of clues dropped throughout the book that had me guessing what would happen next right up until the very end.
Cleverly written - I enjoyed the way the story was built and told through the therapy sessions attended by the leading characters over the course of the book.
Recommend!

Worth listening good twists toward the end

Pretty good audible overall a few slow bits in the first half, so I stopped listening for a while, then returned for the second half. got better towards the end & were a few twists I didn’t see coming, so overall a good listen with enjoyable narration

Engaging story with enough twists to keep me happy

This story is up to the quality I expect from these two authors .
Having enjoyed their other books as well.
I feel that Avery deserves another book she was such an interesting character that we could learn so much more about if the authors decided to extend her story .
Great read , I liked the narrator as well.

Snoozefest

Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed by this book. I absolutely adored the authors' previous books and I looked very much forward to this new story. I found the book boring, nothing really happens, the twists were quite straightforward. By chapter 21 I was over it and forced myself to finish it. I really could not care less about what happened. Narration ok but had to set the speed to 0.95x. I would highly recommend the authors' other books but not this one.
