About this listen

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Robert Jordan’s number one New York Times best-selling epic fantasy series, The Wheel of Time®, continues as Rand al’Thor and his companions set out to retrieve a powerful magical artifact from The Dark One’s Shadowspawn in The Great Hunt.

For centuries, gleemen have told the tales of The Great Hunt of the Horn. So many tales about each of the Hunters, and so many Hunters to tell of....

Now the Horn itself is found: the Horn of Valere long thought only legend, the Horn which will raise the dead heroes of the ages.

And it is stolen.

In pursuit of the thieves, Rand al’Thor is determined to keep the Horn out of the grasp of The Dark One. But he has also learned that he is The Dragon Reborn - the Champion of Light destined to stand against the Shadow time and again. It is a duty and a destiny that requires Rand to uncover and master magical capabilities he never imagined he possessed.

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters. The last six books in series were all instant number one New York Times best sellers, and The Eye of the World was named one of America's best-loved novels by PBS's The Great American Read.

"Jordan creates a lush, sprawling tapestry of a novel in the tradition of Tolkien and Eddings." (Library Journal)

Narration first: the male narrator seems much better to me - the number of different voices he can produce and maintain modulation as well with those is amazing. I personally found the female narrator could've been slightly better.
story: seems a slight bit of a drag sometimes, in a few places. but the way everything ties up in the end is beautiful. and the complex world the author has built is simply mind-blowing. Definitely would recommend!

Beautiful

I was very curious to see how Robert Jordan was going to shape the story in this one since he followed the footsteps of Tokien's work in the previous installation and I have to say it's brilliant, it's awesome and I love it.

So good

As an adult having a re- read of his favorite book series of his teenage, I can't say my opinion has not changed a bit. It looks even more better in Audio rendition.
I have observed some finer aspects I have missed(read this more than 10 times)
1. subtle hinting of siuan' s past in the way she handled ship voyage contrasting it with nyneave
2. I have always thought Thom's eventual pairing with you-know-who( avoiding spoiler) came out of the blue. NO!!it's hinted in book 2.(it's still my least favourite couple)
3. Moiraine's end game and her nemesis is foreshadowed very cleverly 😨😨 take a bow🙏( placing both in successive chapters)
4. There is clear foreshadowing of nyneave and egwain' importance to rand's survival ( events of book 10-12)
5. ingtar's character arc I have always ignored because I want more RAND and RAND only😀😀. It's so nicely done. I was so moved by the end. LIGHT and SHINOWA ...🤗🤗

Rand's round 2 at the end of the book was in my all time iconic fantasy moments list.( like "you shall not pass" " no man can kill nazgull from LOTR,eddark's death in SOIAF) the audio rendition has kicked it down a notch. BECAUSE there is an EVEN MORE EPIC scene. I will declare it BOLDLY... Blowing of the horn sequence: the enchanting visual imagery conjured by Jordan's prose is taken to another level by the narrator. I could feel the goosebumps felt by the characters by myself. put it on repeat. slowly and imbibe.. AWESOME. It's belongs to top tier Fantasy moments of all time.

Epic!!!
