Too many dramatic elements, no message

The music is supposed to be Background music, which Rhonda obviously doesn't believe in. Waste of money and time.

The truth is out

One of the many books that is guiding the spiritual revolution. Some call it consciousness, they call it awareness. it doesn't matter, as long as we start our journey to the ultimate truth.

The audio book is well done. Some people have found the background music annoying. I think it differs if you are listening with good quality headphones or directly on the mobile. I thought that the background music mostly enhanced the quality.

It's like listening to a Hindu scriptures!

The Greatest Secret is known to those who follow Hinduism or any other religion from the start. I found it interesting that they have now managed to convert it easily only a book for western world. All is Well is a popular song in the 3 Idiots Bollywood movie. cheers!!!

Taken too far

I have enjoyed and appreciated all of Byrne’s previous books. In actual fact, it has changed my life!
This one however, feels like an overreach...as if she just HAD to write another book! Therefore the book really doesn’t teach you anything new and what is given as a “new” secret, is merely just old philosophies placed in a new package with different wording.

DAFT RUBBISH

The entire book can be summed up as "You are not you, you are not a person, you are merely "awareness" living inside some random body. As "awareness" you are actually eternally happy and feel no pain."
Really??

The ONLY two (totally skimmed over) phrases in the book that are actually worth anything is knowing that
"What you Resist will Persist" and
"Don't get attached to anything".
However, even not getting attached to anything is dubious because part of that rule is that you enjoy being with the people you have in your life and whom you love, but when they die, tough, accept the sadness and immediately move along swiftly to the next - like an "as one door closes the next one opens" kind of thing. Bleugh!!

Don't waste your credit!! If you are into this kind of.. ummm.. stuff.. then rather read Deepak Chopra.

Help me Rhonda, help help me Rhonda

I have often seen displays for Rhonda Byrne's book in airports and rail stations and wondered what the Secret is. Having seen that she has published this new book The Greatest Secret I decided to find out.
The only way I can describe listening to this is to imagine Kath from Aussie TV sitcom Kath & Kim (look at moi, look at moi) on a QVC TV shopping channel interspersed with the genie character from Disney's Aladdin and the deep booming voiceover from The Lion King across a background of insipid Richard Clayderman style piano musak with a few pan pipes thrown in. At first I thought that this might well be an elaborate Philomena Cunk type parody but I am 90% sure it is not. The, so called, secret claims to take inspiration from Christian, Buddhist and Hindu traditions (but strangely not Islam) and includes such gems as "only awareness can experience awareness" and "we need to be aware of our awareness" and "awareness is greater than anything we are aware of".
Having paid for the experience of listening to this book has a similar feeling to crossing the palm of a fortune teller at the seaside. There is, of course, only one you, and you are it; but if I were you I would not waste your time and money on this book.

Not the greatest secret at all.

I was excited when I heard Rhonda was releasing a new book. I pre-ordered this and couldnt wait for it to drop.

The description doesnt give much away so I was curious as to what this greatest secret was, I needn't have bothered. Read Eckhart Tolle? Wayne Dyer? you'll have heard this all before. We go down the Ego route, the you are not your thoughts route, the notice the thinker route.

That's it summed up. I needn't have bothered.

Mind Blah blah

Notice how Rhonda Byrne is not talking from Awareness but from a story of what Awareness is. Big difference!. It is clear that she has been reading all the books, watched all Teacher's videos and gathered all info sometimes almost word by word from Non Duality Teachers. Listening to this just grates. Rhonda Byrne reads, says the right things but you know she has not realised one iota of what she is talking about. Theoretically, intellectually yes but she is clearly not living from the Pure place of Awareness. that she continually speaks of in the book.

There are many Sages who for millennium have been pointing to the Truth of who we Are
Eckhart Tolle, Gangaji, Mooji, Papaji, Ramama Marharshi, Adyashanti etc are Teachers who embody Truth and you feel this deep Sense of Presence as they speak. Rhonda Byrne is a marketeer, she should stick to this and walk her talk .
No one is fooled by words but we are touched by the Silence we can feel in between the words.
If One really wants to discover the Truth of who we All Are, go to the Source in the midst of you, or a true Teacher.
It is not in the book and certainly not in this one...

audiobook is dreadful

this review is for the audiobook only.

I bought this after watching an interview with Rhonda on YouTube. I was hoping it would have new insights and ideas from the original which I enjoyed. I tried listening for an hour and just couldn't continue. the same words and phrases were being repeated over and over and I think the worst was the continual "music" going on in the background. I listen to many audiblooks and there is usually a narrator, perhaps an additional one for a different voice, but this is simply loads of people saying pretty much the same thing while music drones on in the background.

I realise this is a very negative review, but I wanted to put it out there for anyone who usually enjoys audiblooks.

Nothing in this book was new or a secret

It was just a regurgitation of things that lots of other authors have already written about. If you’ve read authors such as Eckhart Tolle, Deepak Chopra, Wayne Dyer, Joe Dispenza then you won’t find anything new here.

Awful background music

Didn't get through the first chapter because there's this awful, distracting background music that is overpowering her speech. I'm sure it's supposed to be meditative or inspiring but it just made me think Ronda didn't feel confident her words would be strong enough. Returned.

Paperback spirituality

I guess you could call this a consumer introduction to nonduality. The whole book (with all its background music and aggregated quotes) while entertaining at times, can be summed up with the following:

Your feelings and thoughts are not facts, and do not need to define you -- if you learn to observe or ignore the mind chatter, you gain an awareness of how your mind is controlling you, and this is when your life will improve.

That's all there is to it really -- it's not new, and it's not really a secret, it's what a lot of spiritual teachers have been saying for a long time -- I hope this book opens people's minds to some of the great spiritual minds mentioned in the book, as Rhonda is certainly no guru.

Iv read a lot of spiritual books and sometimes I find them hard to understand or they can be a bit boring at times and I switch off, in this book it’s exciting and I just felt happy the whole time listening to it and took it all in, it’s probably not everyone’s cup of tea but I loved it

If you don’t mind background music the entire book

It’s okay. Definitely not new information. A bit gimmicky with the dramatic background music which for me, detracts from the message Rhonda is trying to get across. It would be better if the music was every now & then, but it’s constant. Personally, I found that annoying. I do like Rhondas books, but the delivery on this one was not for me.

Don’t bother

The real message of this book has been lost on an over dramatised movie like production. The loud background music and constant hopping between narrators is distracting and makes it feel like a 6 hour infomercial. This audiobook needs a complete remake with one narrator and no music.
