Publisher's Summary
This is the classic book that started an entire genre - the story of the most iconic hardman of them all.
Lenny McLean was one of the deadliest bareknuckle fighters Britain has ever seen. He had dear, powerful friends, but he also had terrible enemies. So much so that he had two bullet wounds in his back - each from a different attack.
He was also stabbed repeatedly - always from behind. But Lenny was also a warm, big-hearted grizzly bear of a man, whose main weakness was an overwhelming desire to put the welfare of his mates ahead of his own wellbeing.
In his extraordinary autobiography, he tells of how the Mafia flew him to New York to take on their greatest bareknuckle boxer in a multimillion pound illicit bout.
The Mafia's man lasted less than three minutes. When the IRA fronted up a London gang in a money-laundering scam, Lenny was brought in to intimidate the terrorists. The IRA, not surprisingly, backed off.
His most serious trial came when he was accused of murder. Fighting to prove his innocence against a minimum sentence of 25 years, Lenny never gave up - and went on to be found not guilty.
This is a tale of one man's triumph against almost insurmountable odds, in a battle that Len fought every day for himself, and to 'put steam on the table' for his wife and kids.

Captivating Biography
What a remarkably dangerous and riveting account of the life Lenny lived. Tough as diamonds with principles to match. I found the mixture of being deadly dangerous man and a loving compassionate husband and father to be fascinating.

"a diabolical liberty" this is not
Lenny's life is an amazing listen and the performance is top notch. if you are any way interested in the krays era or the older gangsters of England then I highly recommend this book. in fact even if it's just a passing fancy you will still enjoy this. Lenny is very honest and goes into an exceptional amount of detail on his past crimes and fights. genuinely enjoyable and I would recommend this audio book.

There is only one Lenny McLean
When I first read the write up of this book I wasn’t sure if it would suit my tastes, violence, abuse and a strong cockney accent. But the story of Lenny McLean is so much more. The story he tells really draws you into the dark underbelly of London during the 70’s, 80’s early 90’s. He becomes this larger life, lovable villain. Using humour and a real punch of honesty you find yourself in his corner cheering him on. This book needs to be made into a movie as is quite incredible the life he lived.
Also loved the narration, as mentioned earlier the book is read in a cockney accent but really adds to reality of the book. 💯 love this audiable and recommend it to everyone.

A Thug with a conscience & heart...
Narrator was fabulous, I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I have since looked up some people mentioned throughout the book & Lenny was definitely a 'larger than life' character that has touched many lives - in both good & bad ways.

Haven’t enjoyed an audio book like this in a long time
Brilliant story about a larger than life man, never short on action throughout the story. One minute you’ll be laughing the next you’ll be wiping the tears from your cheeks, narrator knocks it out of the park.
