The Howling Ghost

Adam has just moved to the small town of Springville. His first day there, he meets Sally, who tells him the town’s real name is Spooksville because of all the spooky things that go on. Adam doesn’t believe her - until they go in search of the Secret Path, a magical path that leads to other Spooksvilles. Join Adam, Sally, and their friend Watch as they take the Secret Path and pass through a dark doorway. On the other side you’ll find a terrifying Spooksville where there are huge spiders, living skeletons, evil black knights, and a witch who just loves to make dolls...out of kids!

There is a famous cave located just outside of Spooksville. A lot of stories surround the dark place: scary ones as well as exciting ones. Adam decides to explore the cave with his friends, Watch, Sally, and Cindy. But the moment they go into the cave, the entrance closes behind them. They are trapped. In the dark. They walk deeper into the cave, frantically searching for a way out. The batteries in their flashlights begin to run low. Then they realize something is following them. Something that has been in the cave for a long time. Something big, black…and hungry.

When Adam and his friends stay up late one night, they see bright lights in the sky. Lights that look suspiciously like flying saucers. Then, the next night, one of the saucers lands by the reservoir, and the creatures who come out of the ship don’t look like people at all. Their heads are too large, and their eyes are too big and black. Worse, they want Adam and his friends to come with them for a little ride in space. They practically drag the kids into their ship. Then the flying saucer takes off! Can Adam and his friends figure out a way to get home? 

The time has come for Adam and his friends to again face Spooksville’s most powerful citizen, Ms. Ann Templeton. Sally says the woman is definitely a witch, but Adam and Watch are not so certain. To find the truth, they visit her castle together. There they find both good and bad: creatures more horrible than anything they could imagine, but also magical tools that can create the most wonderful things. But will these tools help Adam and his friends? Or are they just instruments to trick them and make them slaves of the mysterious Ann Templeton?

At Sally’s insistence, the gang sets out to find the cool and sophisticated Bryce Poole. He went off to investigate the Secret Path a week ago and hasn’t been seen since. When they find his backpack abandoned next to Madeline Templeton’s tombstone, they know he’s gone to a different realm.
