Publisher's Summary
"You can do anything if you have nothing left to lose."
Struggling to come to terms with the suicide of her teenage son, Ellie lives in the shadows of the Forth Road Bridge, lingering on its footpaths and swimming in the waters below. One day she talks down another suicidal teenager, Sam, and sees for herself a shot at redemption, the chance to atone for her son's death.
But even with the best intentions, she can't foresee the situation she's falling headlong into - a troubled family, with some very dark secrets of their own.
From number-one best-selling author of Gone Again, The Jump is a hugely moving contemporary thriller and a stunning portrait of an unlikely heroine.
Doug Johnstone is the author of six acclaimed novels, most recently The Dead Beat, described by The Skinny as 'superior crime fiction'. He is also a freelance journalist, a songwriter, and a musician and has a PhD in nuclear physics. He lives in Edinburgh.

Don’t.
I do not like saying negative things but is is probably the worst book I have listened to. Implausible and preachy. I wanted to have empathy and understanding for the main character but I just wanted her to get help. I wasn’t sure she was stable even before the horribly traumatic occurrence in her life.

The lies and coverups seemed a bit much. not sure end justified the means here

This is nonsense from start to finish
What a dreadful collection of drivel this book is. The story line is shockingly banal in its treatment of incest and murder. The whining delivery of the reader perfectly suits the soulless quality of the writing. Don't touch this one with a barge pole!

Quite different
It is difficult to summarise this story. Themes of suicide, depression, family troubles and ultimately murder and retribution. It's a little odd, maybe disturbing but also intriguing. Have a listen and see what you think.

Sleepy town has more going on than you would think
The narrator has a great accent and tells the story so well. The twists of the plot and the local nature to it brings it all alive. well done to everyone involved in making this.
