Publisher's Summary

The Honourable Phryne Fisher - she of the Lulu bob, Cupid's bow lips, diamante garters and pearl-handled pistol - is the 1920s' most elegant and irrepressible sleuth.

Miss Phryne Fisher is up to her stunning green eyes in intriguing crime in each of these entertaining, fun and compulsively listenable stories. With the ever-loyal Dot, the ingenious Mr Butler and all of Phryne's friends and household, the action is as fast as Phryne's wit and logic.

a question of death

I unwittingly bought this book thinking it was a new collection of short stories. Be aware all but 4 of the stories in this book are from a previous collection called a question of death.

A Question of Death + 3 hours new stuff

Yes, this has all of the material previously published as A Question of Death, but there are about 3 hours of new Phryne Fisher stories added to the end. It was a lot of fun!

The author explains the new stuff in the last 4 or 5 minutes of track 3. As to the new reader, Wendy Bos is pretty good.

I enjoyed this book a lot!

Terrible Narration

I love the Phrybe Fisher stories but this narrator is terrible. She can’t distinguish between characters and her accents make me cringe. I’m returning this. Please bring back Stephanie Daniel.

I miss Stephanie Daniel narration.

I love all the Phryne books. This book is full of short stories that I have read before and a couple of new short stories. I was hoping for a novel length new story. I could not get use to a new narrator. Stephanie Daniel is Phryne in my mind and this new narrator just didn't have the same panache.

Phryne's short adventures

I enjoyed this collection of short stories and the introduction by Kerry Greenwood in which she talks about the development of the series and mentions the soon to be published 21st Phryne Fisher novel, and also the relationship between the TV Phryne Fisher world and the book world. Those of you who already own A Question of Death, the previous short story collection will be disappointed, as this collection contains the stories from that one plus 4 new stories and the introduction mentioned above. I am fortunate, I was considering buying A Question of Death since I was unable to find a Kindle edition, when I found out about this one, so I was able to get the longer collection without conflict.

I do wonder why neither of these is available for Kindle, at least in the US? I had read A Question of Death in paper copy from the library some years ago.

A reprint plus a few new stories.

Disappointing actually. The new reader is mostly ok but her pronunciation of foreign languages is a mess, which is painful when reading an author as widely read and unpretentiously erudite as Kerry Greenwood. The new stories aren’t really mysteries but light fluff. And why is Ember suddenly female? For Phryne addicts who want every word. Otherwise I’d recommend sticking with the original collection and Stephanie Daniel.

Short Mysteries

I thought it was good. I like the original narrator better but, this one was better that some say she was. It’s a group of short stories about simple cases that take place between the novel cases. Short or long, I love all the characters and miss them.

Collection of Phryne Fisher Stories

I must say I was surprised when I started listening to a collection of short stories. Usually I don’t read short stories but I started to listen to these. They hung together well and they were up to the quality of the novels. So I listened to the whole book.

I recommend this to anyone who likes mysteries. They are great stories. If haven’t read any Phryne Fisher novels, this is a good way to get to know her and her crew.

bring back Stephanie Daniel

the narrator sucks, couldn't understand half of what she was saying and it didn't have the same feeling that all the other books have when Stephanie Daniel narrates

This is a re-recording of "A Question Of Death"

Very disappointed to have bought this only to find out that it is a re-recording of "A Question Of Death". Feel a bit tricked.

Ruined by the narrator

I knew this was A Question of Death plus new short stories so was not disappointed by that. However I cannot understand why Bolinda could not find a more suitable narrator after Stephanie Daniel's death. I would have given the narrator 0 stars if allowed.
