About this listen

In this story from China, when a woodcutter finds a magic pot that makes two of everything that he puts inside of it, he thinks all of his troubles have disappeared! Or have they just doubled? Editorial Reviews

Exotic music introduces this worthwhile tale and reappears at appropriate times. When a poor, hardworking woodcutter comes upon a fine pot, he's delighted. Performer Bethany Eyrich captures the joy of the man and his wife as the pot produces a second copy of whatever is put in it. Then, the wife falls into the pot as she slips on the coins that have made the family rich. Soon, a second wife appears, and the man asks, "Can a man live with two women at the same time?" Each of the two wives gives a spirited reply, "Not in my house." Sound effects add to the ambiance.
