Almost 1,000 pages of lightning-paced action. The next three stories in the series listeners are describing as "The new Harry Dresden," or "Deadpool meets Dumbledore".

Silver Tongue (Book 4)

Reputations can get a guy killed by all sorts of nasties. But I never thought I’d find myself at a crossroads, a pawn in a deadly game that I hadn’t known existed, willing to sell my soul to save the life of someone I loved…That’s when I learned true fear, because the world I thought I knew was all just smoke and mirrors, and I was just a puppy playing amongst wolves…

Beast Master (Book 5)

What do you do for Thanksgiving dinner entertainment when your guests are Death, an angel, a vampire, Achilles, and a slew of other monsters? You have a nerf gun war, of course...

But the Queens of Fae want to crash my party. And the Beast Master has come to town, abducting shifter children to use as cannon fodder for his twisted Monster Circus.

Tiny Gods (Book 6)

To prevent a Shifter vs. Wizard War, I step in to draw a line in the sand, picking a fight with the deadliest magic slingers on the planet...and then I try to rob them.

But when my enemies decide to wake a god, the only way for me to level the playing field is to open an early birthday present from the Mad Hatter...And that’s when I find out that nothing is ever simple, and that no one was ever who I thought they were all these years...

Great if you like fast-paced anxiety? :-/

The story is actually good. But...the main characters are basically miserable at -all- times. Betrayal, massive stress, no good choices, No character development except for constant unnecessary emotional pain, anguish, and consequences for going the route of 'lesser evil' - because those are the -only- paths they get to pick from. No one ever gets down time where they get to enjoy the world the author builds (thus allowing the reader/listener to enjoy it) . No one ever gets anything they want. No one gets to be happy. Ever. It's just a non-stop bullet train of pain and sadness.

I listened to the first 6 books in the series, -hoping- that something good happens to any of these great characters eventually. Hasn't happened yet in 6 books, and honestly it stresses me out.

Author does a great job conveying the character's emotions to the reader/listener. But it upsets me the only emotions they get (and thus share with the reader/listener) is anxiety and emotional pain. I -like- the characters, and I sort of hate the author for constantly breaking them down without giving them a chance to build back up. Occasionally funny dialogue and banter helps mitigate the sheer depression, but those moments are band-aids on a bullet wounds.

If you love bullet-train style fast pace, and reading about other people's emotional misery...it is a great story. But if you actually want to smile aside from the occasional funny quip...you're better off looking elsewhere.

Terrible series

This series is lame. The main character is supposed to be a well educated, highly intelligent wizard, from a long and powerful line. The author even gave him a photographic memory. But Nate Temple’s (main character) primary trait is being a raging alcoholic. He constantly is being attacked or out manipulated and is never prepared, making the same mistakes over and over. And at the end of each book he miraculously overcomes. All six books have the same story line. Totally lame. I will not continue the series. I was just hoping the main character would get killed. The authors editor needs to have this guy change it up.

Time to forget life and holiday in the Templeverse

These books literally will break you emotionally and build you back up. You will never want to leave. The separate stories of this compendium is like every book addicts dream 40 hours or so of nothing but character discovery. The neat part of the series is that side characters are not just side characters but a staple in the series. This makes the reread or re-listen of this series not just fun but a must to find those details that are broadcasted later in the series, but in a fun and plot building way. Stories are very easy to follow and the dip into different mythologies and fantasy ideals are pretty neat and well weaved into the story. Like any other Shayne Silvers book, grab a few drinks and find that quiet place to leave reality and holiday in the Templeverse, all are welcome!

Love this series.

2 things that annoy me about it is 1. the “genius IQ” wizard has a couple moments in each book early on where someone basically says let me explain exactly what the problem is and a very easy way to correct it. Followed by Nate cutting them off to say “not now I’ve got to get to the coffee shop immediately” usually causing untold horror and destruction. Then later after his friends are dead or dying it’s oh what were you telling me lol. I get it, that’s the way these stories go. 2. Indy... kill her holy crap. Another insanely dense action by our hero. Letting bad guys get away again and again. SMH. But still I’m off to get the next 3 books in the series because I’m totally hooked. Lol just a little frustrated by our hero ATM. Recommend if you like “Harry Dresden” or “Bill the Vampire” you’ll love it too

devolved into a teenage rant

previous books were ok. this one is...not. narrator is great; story sucks. nate temple, previously successful business owner and competent sly ADULT becomes a teenager. he complains about everything. if i was his friend, I'd have said " stop whining and do something productive ". halfway through the book at the time of this review. i seriously doubt that I'll be able to finish.

I love it!!

What a great set of books. The character development is wonderful and the number of characters Silvers brings in to the story is amazing. I can't wait to read the next book.

NONSENSICAL RANTS, MORONIC CHARACTERS

While the stories are good, the immense illogical and poorly timed side rants the author uses to fill more pages than necessary to relay the actual story is so overly used that it makes the story hard to hold the reader's interest. It is so annoying that you have to constantly skip 20 to 30 seconds forward, 2 or 3 times per paragraph in order to get to the freeking point. I will no longer purchase this author's work. I will use other means to get free copies of these ripoffs, i mean books...Shayne Silvers remove your head from your rectum.

This narrator kicks butt!

First of all, this series is awesome! Very clever! I feel the narrator takes it up a notch. BIG TIME! Great series! Cool characters! What more could you ask for?
