Publisher's Summary

A thief's good deeds are never done.

Loch and her crew are determined to stop the ancients from returning to reclaim the world they once ruled, but the kidnapping of a friend throws their plans awry. When a desperate rescue turns into a shocking reunion, the ancients return and seize power. Determined to stop them, Loch and the group look for a way to close the gate to the ancients' world, but this time, they find themselves up against an enemy that has insinuated itself into the highest ranks of the Republic. Cruel, cunning, and connected, the ancients target the crew's families and histories, threatening to tear friendships apart.

If that weren't bad enough, Loch must deal with her treacherous assassin sister, her turncoat ancient friend, and a daemon who has sworn to hunt her to the ends of the earth. In order to save the Republic and pull off her largest con ever, Loch will need her friends...and maybe her enemies too.

This reive covers the trilogy

On a par with Lock Lamorra, and Ryira, I love the characters in this caper story. Wish there were more entries.

Weekes closes out the series strong

The whole series was well done. I was intrigued throughout. There were twists and turns that kept my attention and kept me guessing. I could not figure out how Lock and her team could pull this one out in the end. Never boring. I had to get used to the narration in the first book. The accent threw me. But I got the hang of it and it was perfect once I got used to it. Loved the puppet show. As an African American, I loved the satirical comments regarding Lock’s people. I would recommend the series to anyone. Fun read.

Fun!

Just a fun story with wonderful characters and an amazing lead! It’s so hard to find excellent fantasy with a woman of color as a well-written lead, and with very few iffy incidents involving sexism or homophobia. This book fit the bill and was a great adventure story!

more. i want more.

If the first book was Ocean's eleven,, this book is Leverage. They take your back and forth to show you how it was done. We get more of the characters background in this story. We have been so busy running from danger a nd savings the world, there hasn't been much opportunity for character development. Now, I feel like I am getting to know them and the series is done. The narrator continues her excellent performance with name pronunciation and accents that only improve the story. I am glad I heard these stories as audio books. I don't think I would have done as well reading them myself.

Fantastic series, beautifully performed

I can't say enough good things about this series. The characters are all wonderfully, believably flawed and you fall in love with each in turn. the plot moves at a brisk pace with surprises. High fantasy meets ensemble heist. it is just glorious.

Brilliant

I'm disappointed the books are finished but what a brilliant final book, there was no sign of the author writing it to just get it over with. Great!
