Publisher's Summary

Maura Sullivan never intended to set foot in Granger, Ohio, again. But when circumstances force her to return, she must face all the disappointments she tried so hard to leave behind: a husband who ignored her, a congregation she couldn’t please, and a God who took away everything she ever loved.

Nick Shepherd thought he had put the past behind him until the day his estranged wife walked back into town. Intending only to help Maura through her crisis of faith, Nick finds his feelings for her never died. Now he must admit the mistakes he made and how he hurt his wife and find a way to give and receive forgiveness.

As God works in both of their lives, Nick and Maura start to believe they can repair their broken relationship and reunite as man and wife. But Maura has one more secret to tell Nick before they can move forward. It’s what ultimately drove her to leave him six years earlier and the one thing that can destroy the fragile trust they’ve built.

Great narration, trivial story

First off, Lisa Cordileone is such a talented narrator and this story just proves it again. Listening to books she narrates is always a pleasure.

The story, however, takes a couple of pretty serious situations and treats them with a sweet touch that really does trivialize them. While the story overall is enjoyable, it truly does a disservice to the subjects it addresses.

It's a cute story

Self centeredness, dishonesty, nil communication & assumptions leads to problems with this couple. The narrator was pretty good.

Needs more

Overall, I enjoyed this story. As a pastor’s wife, I needed a few more chapters to show me that Nick was giving more than lip service to his promise to make his wife the priority she was meant to be.

Sassy

There is no climax in this story. Just go on and on and on. Very predictable from the start. Helped me sleep and never bothered to rewind it if I missed some chapters

Clean and interesting

This novel was a beautiful book of love and forgiveness. It was true to life with ups and downs, but faith to sustain.

Is English the narrator's second language?

It was a challenge to hang in there with the narrator mispronouncing words from beginning to end. Note to narrator: "theater" is a 3 syllable word, it is a "thee-uh-tur", not a "theeter". I lost track of the crimes against the English language so I won't belabor that point. Also, I found the characters inauthentic and extremely one dimensional. Pretty painful listening.

Good Story.

Forgiveness and God's loves. A great feel-good listen. Author was excellent and all the characters had different voices. I loved it!
