From the bestselling author of The Authenticity Project comes a brand-new uplifting and feel-good novel that everyone is falling in love with...

Nobody speaks to strangers on the train. But what would happen if they did?

Every day at 8:05, Iona Iverson boards the train to go to work. Every day, she sees the same people and makes assumptions about them, even giving them nicknames. But they never speak. Obviously.

Then, one morning, Smart-but-Sexist-Surbiton chokes on a grape right in front of Iona. Suspiciously-Nice-New Malden steps up to help and saves his life, and this one event sparks a chain reaction.

With nothing in common but their commute, an eclectic group of people learn that their assumptions about each other don't match reality. But when Iona's life begins to fall apart, will her new friends be there when she needs them most?

Light-hearted read that brings a smile

Being a regular commuter, I find this story super endearing. Our perception and assumptions of strangers seem like the truth and eventually when reality is revealed, we often are left surprised. All the characters are well depicted and there's so much to learn from each. Great narration by audible .Fun read !

Train and People

I used to travel by a train so the idea of making friends with unlikeliest people during commute is a very familiar premise. the characters are warm and story quick... loved it

A story about love, loss and fullfillment

People on Platform 5 by Clare Pooley is a character based contemporary fiction piece that has a bit of everything, from romance to mystery and a touch of drama. I genuinely went in intrigued thinking there'd be a mystery that'd shadow a philosophical tale but I was genuinely surprised by the starighforward and candid plot. the story is very simple about how one event brings a set of everyday commutors to become friends. I loved the simplicity of the plot and the writing style too. its a very quick and easy read that has relatable characters and showcases their day to day problems.
I adored the character of Iona, she's so flamboyant and self assured it really brightened up the book. she wears her heart on her sleeve and it's very interesting to see her character development.
All the other characters bring something special to the tabel and will definitely give you a run for their money. Some you'll like some you'll find annoying just like you do in day to day life. Somewhere that's also the way I would describe my experience with this book, it's just sort of like day to day life and meeting interesting people . I thoroughly enjoyed it!
