Publisher's Summary
At long last, Acalia's most powerful cultivator will learn what it means to cross me.
The price paid in the Sky Tower proved greater than I'd hoped. After banishing the avatar of a fallen god, my vessels well deserve their rest...and we'd all like a chance to grieve the fallen.
Yet after an encounter with an assassin in Viatross, our group is bound to head south, far south to Ferendell. Cormac Alchemist IX has summoned me. The man wishes to take back Rael, the Divine Artifact he gifted Astra. Regardless of his desires, I've sworn to protect this land I love. So be it in peace or in battle, I will meet Cormac in the grand city of Ferendell.
What the man doesn't know is that I’ve progressed faster than he could have anticipated. Walk with care, cultivator, for Rinmarron the Runesmith of Bern is coming for you.

bad actor
The story... I can't remember because Wisniewski is difficult to listen too. Sounds like a caricature of the slimball used car salesman trying to pick up a stripper that he is convinced wants him because he tipped a whole extra dollar and wore his good shirt.
Rebecca is great.

A disappointment
I was expecting a lot more from this built up villain from basically the start but at least the last 2 books before this. Instead it’s just a solution they already used used again to speed up the ending to not come up with a cleaver way to defeat the man without a fight and only do so when in self defense. Other than that the story and performances were as good as usual

much better than the last two
The last two books in the series I rated giving only two and three stars overall. because to be honest the last book was a Flop there was no progression there was no anything in the last book honestly I think you could probably just skip over it except for a couple of sentences .
this one however did have progression and also layered over a couple of other different layers of refining that progression to master it. So there's always something else to look forward to. the fights were good and the political intrigues were pretty fun to get into.
really the only thing that I had any gripe with and they did do this a little bit better in this book than any of the others is it seems like he only really pays attention to one woman of his group (Astra). like she's the one who comforts him, and she's the one that's normally always warming his bed, unless for some reason or another he's sleeping with another woman for that night. there's just no real in-depth affection or real moments I feel like for these women that are following him.
I mean in all honesty why don't they just take turns cozying two or three girls at a time. nothing hardcore or sexual about it just sleeping in the bed together. you can't really just tell a girl why she's special right before going into a battle that's not cool. got to be a little more playful than that bro.
I do think that in this book he did make a better attempt to do that which is why I made it four stars instead of three, but still not up to quite the five-star rank
