Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

The beginning of my sophomore year in college was off to a rough start. On the first day of orientation, I had an altercation with an infuriating British dude in a campus bathroom. (The ladies’ room was out of order. So, I used the men’s room. Don’t judge.) I got home later that night and realized that the foreign student we were expecting to rent a room in my parents’ house was allergic to our cat. So, the spare room went to someone else: Caleb - the British guy from the men’s room. And so it began...my love-hate story with Caleb Yates. Or was it hate-love in that order?

Everyone says opposites attract. And they must be right, because there’s no logical reason why I’m so drawn to Colin Fitzgerald. I don’t usually go for tattoo-covered, video-gaming, hockey-playing nerd-jocks who think I’m flighty and superficial. His narrow view of me is the first strike against him. It doesn’t help that he’s buddy-buddy with my brother. And that his best friend has a crush on me. And that I just moved in with them. Oh, did I not mention we’re roommates?

Story
Lexington Dane was my brother’s best friend growing up. We did everything together. He taught me how to throw a punch, how to change a tire...and he taught me how to kiss. I fell hard and fast, and gave him all my firsts. I promised I’d wait for him.... But I’m done waiting, because he went off to college and never came back. He took his fancy business degree and moved to New York City, where he promptly became a real estate mogul - turning every penthouse and apartment project he touched into gold.
Publisher's Summary
I’m the type of girl who’s given up on fairy tales. So when Beck – the hot new busboy at work - starts flirting with me, I know better than to get my hopes up. Happily ever afters aren’t for the average. I learned that the hard way.
But how can I be expected to resist a man who can quote Austen, loves making me laugh, and seems to be everything hot and good in this world?
Only there’s so much more to him than that.
Billionaire playboy? Check.
Troubled soul? Check.
The owner of my heart, the man I’ve moved halfway across the country to be with, who’s laying the world at my feet in order to convince me to never leave? Check. Check. Check.
But nobody does complicated like the one percent.
This is not your everyday rags-to-riches, knight-in-shining armor whisking the poor girl off her feet kind of story. No, this is much messier.
“[The] Rich Boy takes you on a literal ride! Funny. Angsty. There's mean rich people and people you root for. It's a definite recommend from me! (Tijan, New York Times best-selling author)
“[The] Rich Boy was witty, exciting and had the most intense slow burn romance I’ve read in a long time. The complexity of the characters was refreshing and made me wish for more!” (Audrey Carlan, number one New York Times best-selling author)
“I never knew how much I needed an adult fairy tale in my life until I finished reading The Rich Boy. I was sucked in to the sweet, fun, sexy, slow-burning romance blossoming between Beck and Alice and I didn’t want it to end.” (Bookgasms Book Blog)
“It is a slow-burn but once it’s there, it’s blazing THEIR CHEMISTRY IS INSANE from the banter, to jokes, to Beck quoting JANE AUSTIN and being the right kind of sarcastic well they both are, to alike-ness, GAH, I loved both the characters!” (The Guide to Romance Novels Reviews)
“The Rich Boy has the perfect mix of romance and comedy. Kylie Scotts writing style just flows perfectly and she’s made a brilliantly entertaining rom-com.” (Blogging for the Love of Authors and Their Books)
“This was a slow burn that simmered until it became an all out FIRE! The chemistry was INTENSE. Beck was a great guy that knew how to romance his woman. It was impossible not to love him.” (Keri Loves Books)

Nothing like her other books.
If you are reading this because you’re a Kylie Scott fan, I’d suggest waiting for her next story. This narrative is dull and focuses more on fashion brands and luxury life than actual romance. The timeline also bugged me. Scotts other books narrow in on the antagonist by giving readers a rooted sense of the individual, helping us make a connection to her and work through problems and situations as if they were our own. This book immediately begins with the man sweeping a waitress off her feet, which doesn’t appeal. The usual spark that builds up to passion isn’t there. The concept of the man not being interested in sleeping with the woman was another piece of the storyline that didn’t work for me. This book just doesn’t compare to Scott’s previous works. If I read it compared to the others without background information I would assume it was the first thing she’d written and the other books came later in her career.

Wanted: rich bus boy
First of all, I have to say I LOVE the combo of Kylie Scott and Andi Arndt!!!! Andi Arndt as a narrator is always a treat. Her voice is so expressive! And somehow you always know which character is speaking, she never breaks character.
I always love books by Kylie Scott. She takes you on an emotional journey, but in a way that you don't mind. Her stories are full of ups and downs, and laughter and sadness (I'm not actually one of those women who cry over books or movies). She doesn't stay in the doldrums for too long, nor does she get too overly dramatic in the situations that her characters get in to. I think this what keeps her books so light and fun, even though they still have tension and conflict that every story needs.
This is a stand alone HEA, but I personally started my love of all things Kylie Scott with Lick from the Stage Dive series. My favorite of hers is probably Flesh of the Flesh series, with zombies. I do love me some paranormal romance, especially when it's M/F/M. If you haven't read any of her other books, you definitely should!

Kinda slow
Honestly I will start by saying that Andi probably saved this for me, because her voice, as well as her male voice, made it bearable in alot of parts. The story itself wasn't bad, just slow and drug out, and I didn't like the way all of the angst and chaos wasn't dealt with in a more suitable manner to the book. I like Kylie's styling of writing, however, this one made the female character Alice seem meeker than necessary, and that didn't set well with me (you'll know what I mean if you listen to the book). Beck was just really an overgrown boy trying to find his way in a sea of sharks, and he got there in the end, but even his story wasn't played out very well. The back up characters were ok, albeit somewhat annoying at times and made me wonder why they were even written in. All in all I don't feel as though it was a wasted credit, however, it won't be one in my library that I'll listen to again unless I just get overly bored and need to listen to Andi tell a story. Hope that helps!

`So well written, yet so frustrating
I’m just not convinced by the characters, they are interesting and well written, but I’m just not completely buying the romance. I was completely into the connection while they were both poor, but once the power dynamics changed due to money it was no longer obvious why they were together.
We were constantly being reminded that the heroine fell for him before she new about the money, but what we actually got was him not actually equalising the power disparity the money causes or respecting her voice. There is not compromise there is just agreement.
He asked she to uproot her life for him, she went along with this
He told her when they weren’t and when they were going to have sex and she went along with it
He asked her to not share everything about her life with who she wanted, and she agreed to this.
He bought chose and bought their house For them, and she went along with it.
He arranged for her to work for him and she agreed to this.
Is she actually a person with her own life, or is she a character reflection of him. All the above is justified because there is conversation, however it doesn’t change the fact that she is isolated, financially dependant and doesn’t have equal power and say in the relationship.

So sad 😞
I’m not sure I can finish this book 😞 I typically love Kylie Scott books but this is just bad...it was off to a good start and then lost me. The H is just so enamored with the h but he won’t have sex with her after weeks? Even though they moved in together after knowing each other a few days????He’ll buy her a wardrobe, and jewelry, and a car and a house....but won’t go to second base. Stupid. He’s acting like the virgin he is definitely NOT. And I definitely don’t have an issue with “plus size” but Kylie does little for my imagination in seeing the h as a beautiful, sexy woman. All woman are beautiful and sexy in their own way but it’s just not described in such a way for this story. Then the real kicker...he’s been lying to her the whole time. She finds out and is rightfully pissed...and where I left off...he’s groveling and offering oral to “make it all better”...and she’s falling for it. I can’t take anymore. Totally turned off and annoyed. How depressing. Don’t waste your time. Andi Arndt can’t save this one. And on that note, a dual narration for this would have been very helpful. Definitely discontented and wanting the last few hours of my life back.

Fantastic story
Kylie did it again. The female character is so far my favourite of all of Kylie’s books. Loved the way the couple had so much in common and made it through every challenge they faced due to pressure and society judgement. I also like how Kylie has once again given us a look into anxiety and how it works in this book. Loved it! Great love story. I laughed so much as well. Enjoyed each of the characters in this book.

not my favourite Kylie Scott... but still enjoyed
It was ok... it was well written and love the narration. The story was a little dull at times and I get distracted from time to time. Scott's others books are better... but it wasn't terrible... just not a page turner like her others. She is still one of my favourites romance authors.

Nope. Slow and boring.
Dry and dull. I gave up after 5 hours waiting for the story to get moving.
