Publisher's Summary

Amanda Wilkie unexpectedly finds herself alone with her three children in a rambling Victorian house in London. Her husband leaves them, claiming he's just 'lost the love', like one might carelessly lose a glove. A few months later, Amanda's heavily pregnant friend, Ali, crashes into her kitchen announcing her husband is also leaving. So, after Ali's baby, Grace, is born, they both move into Amanda's attic. And when Jacqui, a long-lost friend and fellow single mum, starts dropping by daily, the household is complete.

Getting divorced is no walk in the park, but the three friends refuse to be defined by it. And as they slowly emerge out of the wreckage like a trio of sequin-clad Gloria Gaynors singing 'I Will Survive', they realise that anything is possible. Even loving again...

Really enjoyable, easy listening

I really enjoyed listening to this. The author is a very brave lady divulging her innermost thoughts, hopes and fears. I've not gone through divorce and hope I never will but I could still relate to lots of bits of the book and I hope it will give me more compassion to those around me dealing with divorce. Now I'm intrigued to try reiki.

Unexpected delight

A book with great insight to emotions. The narration was lovely. The more I got into the book the more I enjoyed it as the friendships all expanded more. The timeline of the story was a little confusing at times, jumping around a bit, but overall really good.

Charming and bittersweet

Wasn't instantly gripped, but didn't take long before I was hooked and couldn't stop listening. I loved how all the characters were really brought to life. But overall the story had too much swearing for my taste.

Really enjoyed this!

I really connected with the main characters sardonic voice and her attempts to rebuild her life. It's full of ups and downs and some very unexpected events! I thought the narrator was perfect, completely absorbed me. Could have done with less swearing tho.

chick lit drivel

I would never have picked this book except it was our book club offering. boring, not funny and typical chick lit rubbish. didn't get past chapter 7 and believe me it was a trial to read it fo that long! avoid unless you like mind numbing nonsense

Bad boos. Worse audiobook.

Uninteresting storyline. Terrible narrative voice - sounded monotone about the whole thing, bad accents, bad impersonations of children, kept getting the inflexions and emphasis all wrong. Would be funny if it wasn't so distracting.
