Publisher's Summary

A stolen bridegroom. A determined bride. A love that will defy both Heaven and Hell.

Valera couldn’t have known the disaster that would fall when she betrayed her husband by looking at his face by candlelight. Now, it’s too late - he is taken from her to some faraway world. She doesn’t know where. She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t even know who kidnapped him.

But she will save him. No matter what.

Neither adventurous nor skilled with weapons like her younger sister, Valera nonetheless sets out on the adventure of a lifetime. An adventure that will take her journeying through worlds and confronting perils she is desperately unprepared to face...until, at last, she comes to the dark and twisted palace standing on the edge of Hell.

Is her love of Erolas strong enough to sustain her? Or will the final test prove too great?

Even better than the first book!

This is the second book in a duology. The first book was good (except for a couple chapters). This book continues the story but is far better. Tons more world building, magic, and a young woman finding her strength and bravery while working to save her true love. (I love that it’s flipped so the woman is saving the guy!)

Only thing…the guy isn’t really in the story until the very end, so if you are looking for their relationship to be built in this one, that’s not the point of this book. This book is about the main character’s personal growth, not about her relationship with her husband.

Yup, What I Expected.

Okay.

Valera still is not my favorite heroine ever, but she grew on me in this book. The book in general is still very much limited in how many characters Valera interacts with, which let's the reader spend more time with Valera and pinpoint where she has grown as a character. But then, with the lack of a consistent companion or otherwise, Valera does tend to get pretty dramatic. If you are stuck with dramatics non-stop, you do tend to get tired.

But, really. This book is leagues better than the first. I still would have liked more world building, but for what Valera needed to do, it worked.

Erolas is still a cinnamon roll, and I know why he wasn't much in the book, but man. I missed him so much! Ugh!!!

This story had soo many problems

This story had so many problems with the plot and the characters that could have been easily fixed. Such a shame.
Let's start with the love story which was totally unbelievable and based on a few encounters during a one month period. V spent her whole time with the H wanting her sister and then when she is finally with her sister, she will do anything to be back with him.
And what's with the inconsistencies regarding the way time passes in different realms/folds. 8 years passed in the real world VS 1 month in the fold and then when V gets back to the real world with her sister, it seems to pass at the same pace with the hell realm.
The ending was just too blah and there were too many things left unexplained.

Worst Heroine Ever

In my 30 years of reading, Velera is the absolute most stupid and pathetic of Heroines. Lord above this book is 90% introspection of this dumb girl restating everything we already know, her guilt for her stupidity, and asking retoracle questions, just get on with the freaking story already. Then when she actually makes an action, she's too stupid to say anything half the time. All of the actual events in this book could have been condensed into TWO chapters. That leaves all the others is complete stupid internal thoughts. I hated how stupid she was in the last book, except the other characters are actually great so decided to give book 2 a try. I will not be reading the third. If you get this book, feel free to slip all the way to Chapter 39. Narrator is OK...but is a little over dramatic in some areas. Little too much attitude in others.

Slow

I waited a long time for the sister to be less annoying and the plot to be less complicated

Book 2 wraps the story up perfectly! It was exiting and I couldn’t stop listening ! I love this series . Off to read the spinoff of her sister , because I’m obsessed.

Good, but not as good as the first book

I felt this book really dragged on at times and became a little repetitive. I did enjoy it, but I enjoyed the first book more.
