About this listen

Random House presents the audiobook edition of The Third Wife by Lisa Jewell, read by Emma Gregory.

You think you have the perfect life.

You're successful. Attractive. Well liked.

And you've just got married for the third time.

But that’s OK because everyone’s happy. Your children are happy. You're happy. And so is your new wife.

But one tragic accident smashes your perfect life to pieces. Because everyone has secrets, and secrets have consequences.

Some of which can be devastating.

Another unforgettable novel from top 10 bestseller Lisa Jewell, author of Then She Was Gone and Watching You.

Critic Reviews

An emotionally intelligent, brilliantly plotted and beautifully written examination of a very modern family that will keep you gripped until the end.
Something of a moral fable about modern relationships, this is a smart and enjoyable story
A moving read from one of our fave authors
The narrative dips back and forth with various points of view from stunningly drawn characters and I devoured it in one long sitting. Take this to the beach, or indeed anywhere — I promise you won’t regret it.
Prepare to totally forget about your family as you become immersed in someone else’s.
There are so many psychological thrillers around right now – but this is one of the best.
Wonderful, endlessly fascinating (Sophie Kinsella)
If you’re after grown-up, brilliantly written intelligent fiction, The Third Wife should be your first choice
Engrossing
Brilliantly plotted, beautifully written

I have never disliked characters as much as I did in any other novel. Everyone from Luke to Kat to Otis are just horrible; mean, selfish and just not nice at all. The only nice person in the book is Maya and she's dead🙄.

Good narration, terrible characters
