Things on my wishlist:

  1. Start a new, awesome job
  2. Create the perfect dating app
  3. Stop dating douchebags

Things that actually happen:

  1. Got a job in my dream tech company
  2. Created a workplace dating app for said company
  3. Was matched with Bennett, who happens to own the company and is also my brother’s best friend

They say when it rains, it pours, but this is some serious BS. It doesn’t help that Bennett was the man I had my last one night stand with. It definitely doesn’t help that he seems to want me just as much as I want him. The issue is, he won’t do anything about it, but then we’re forced to attend a tech conference in Vegas, and I think it may just be what I need to turn this thing around.

New goal: get my brother’s best friend out of my system by all means necessary.

Intense love.

1st time with this author, Claire Contreras. I am so glad I managed to give her a shot and I have to say, she’s a great writer. She was able to take me a journey of suspense, emotional, light and fun with Morgan & Bennett. It’s very intense subject and family issues that many face...how to accept people and etc. I learned a lot about trust and true love in this book. I really dig it!

Immature, barely any narration from his POV

The writing, language, character motivations are all very immature- it reads more like two college sophomores than two adult professionals. For instance - the woman receives harassing phone calls and instead of reporting it, says “I’ll ignore it and let the next assistant deal with it”. When she finally tells the boss, he does nothing even though the harasser is his ex. There are a ton more examples - slamming back shots with the boss on a work trip, making out with him at a club where he brought a date, the brother that is creepily possessive of her... and if I seem to be harping on her more than Bennet it’s because of the 19 chapters I’ve listened to this far (> 1/3 of the book), Jacob has only narrated 2 at the very beginning. It leads me to wonder why the author even gave those two chapters to his POV.

DNF.

The best kind of Trouble!

I devoured this book in 1 day. With this combination of Author and narrators I knew I was in for the best kind of trouble. This book is sweet, funny, and sexy, while tackling some tough topics as people meant for each other more or less stumble into love while dealing with complicated pasts. Morgan is a strong character who has overcome a lot in her life and has a lot of spirit and drive! I got a little irritated during the low point, when misunderstandings cause you to question everything...but putting myself in her shoes I got over it pretty quick and was on board. Ben is a beautifully flawed man who has made (and married) mistakes in the past and thinks he has it all mapped out now to protect himself. Until he doesn't. I love how he owns his past mistakes and will take risks for those he loves. It doesn't hurt that he is damn sexy either! Excellent surrounding/supporting characters make the story even better.

Excellent performances by Jacob Morgan and Virginia Rose! I really felt the despair, self doubt, and suspicion bleed through to really pull you into the story so you are also front and center for the humor, friendship, and definitely swoonworthy toe-curling moments to put the icing on this Audible performance.

Well worth the credit!
