Jack Benson' s performance of this 50-minute audio is nuanced and engaging, if not at all dramatic. Listeners will be hard pressed to recall that author F. Marion Crawford was a 19th-century cosmopolitan Italian, given that The Upper Berth has the tone of an all-American seafaring adventure story.
