Publisher's Summary

When Libby's husband Greg fails to return from a two-week canoe trip to the Canadian wilderness, the authorities soon write off his disappearance as an unhappy husband's escape from an empty marriage and unrewarding career. Their marriage might have survived if their daughter Lacey hadn't died...and if Greg hadn't been responsible. Libby enlists the aid of her wilderness savvy father-in-law and her faith-walking best friend to help her search for clues to her husband's disappearance...if for no other reason than to free her to move on. What the trio discovers in the search upends Libby's presumptions about her husband and rearranges her faith.

Best Christian genre author I’ve ever read

I can’t say a thing bad about this book. It wasn’t your usual lame Christian romance novel or attempt at Christian horror. I’ve read enough of this genre to have been disappointed again and4 again. This one is fantastic. Cynthia can write and her plot is deep and thought provoking. Best fiction drama book I’ve read in a while and it was a Christian based one too! I only grabbed it because it was free with my membership but I plan on sharing her with friends and buying this title as a gift for a girlfriend.

Too much about the lord for me

I didn’t realize this was such a faith based book. Story not too bad but not my cup of tea.

Such a redeeming story!

I rarely ever read a book twice, but I read this several years ago and have now listened to it on Audible and I love it all over again!

Beautifully Written

Cynthia Ruchti writes with such creativity and imagery. This book hooked me from the beginning and held my attention captive through the last page. Marriage stress, grieving, empty nesting, friendship, wilderness adventure, mystery and intrigue - this book encapsulates it all. The serious, heavy issues addressed within the story are made palatable by the light-hearted humor peppered throughout the pages. Spectacular.

My new favorite book!

I don't know if this book is for everyone but it spoke to me. It's real, painfully honest, and touching. It wasn't what I was expecting but it has several clear messages that we should all heed.

I won't be finishing this one

After listening to this audiobook for an hour or so, I couldn't go on. In an hour, nothing happened. A lot of repeating and a lot dialogues about god and faith though, if you are into that.

Compelling Tale!

Would you listen to They Almost Always Come Home again? Why?

I would definitely listen to They Almost Always Come Home again. Ruchti's intricate characterization made this an excellent audiobook!

What did you like best about this story?

Ruchti masterfully crafted this story blending the ordinary with the unexpected. As the lives of the main characters are revealed, the listener is compelled to continue. If I could call an audiobook a "page-turner," this would be it.

What does Lisa Cordileone bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Pleasant narration with appropriate interpretation of Ruchti's characters. Well-done!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Absolutely!
