A full-cast, fully soundscaped production of spectral romance from the Atlanta Radio Theatre Company!

What would you give for love?

Your heart? Your soul? Your mind?

Once there was a chateau locked in winter and a palace trapped in spring. Once it was 1922 and 1888...and only a hallway separated them. Once there was an actress and a prince...and only one of them was real. Once there was the Empress Carlotta and a young woman, staring at each other across love and madness. Once...there was the Throne of Shadows.

Editorial Reviews

Recently discharged from a sanatorium, actress Victoria Farrell arrives at a remote Belgian château in search of work and, hopefully, some peace and tranquility. Instead, Farrell finds herself a puppet in the elaborate charades of the deranged Empress Carlota, once a consort of Mexico, now living amongst the fanciful ghosts of her past. The colorful cast of The Atlanta Radio Theatre Company captures the paranoia and deceit that pervades life at Château Chapultepec. Farrell, in particular, is imbued with an increasingly harrowed air of confusion and anxiety. As the recovering actress plays host to Carlota's whimsical delusions, she quickly loses her own ability to distinguish between fantasy and reality.
