Mais deux siècles après le Ragnarök, les dieux nordiques ont été oubliés et le jeune homme ignore tout de son héritage.

Lors d'un rite de passage organisé par la prêtresse de son village, Tyr découvre qu'il est, comme ses amis Hel et Bragi, le maillon d'une chaîne forgée bien avant sa naissance : porteurs des pouvoirs d'une divinité, ils doivent réunir les 24 runes dispersées dans le monde pour redonner vie aux dieux. Il leur faudra pour cela convaincre les autres Runbørn... ou s'approprier leurs runes par la force.

Face au chemin pavé de sang qui s'impose à eux, Tyr et ses compagnons sacrifieront-ils ce qu'ils sont pour accomplir leur mission sacrée ?
