Publisher's Summary

Twenty-four-year-old Veronika seems to have everything -- youth and beauty, boyfriends and a loving family, a fulfilling job. But something is missing in her life. So, one cold November morning, she takes a handful of sleeping pills, expecting never to wake up. But she does -- at a mental hospital where she is told that she has only days to live.

Inspired by events in Coelho's own life, Veronika Decides to Die questions the meaning of madness and celebrates individuals who do not fit into patterns society considers normal. Bold and illuminating, it is a dazzling portrait of a young woman at the crossroads of despair and liberation, and a poetic, exuberant appreciation of each day as a renewed opportunity.

The Ending is Beautiful.

Great narration, Holds you captive for a long time. You must wait till the end to experience the beauty of the story. Gives a new perspective of Mental health Problems and awareness to not judge a book by its cover.

full of life 💛💛♥️💛💛

I was sure I was going to hate this book. Well, lol!

What does it mean to be crazy? Why do we experience panic attacks? How does life seem after depression? Why do some end their life too soon? -- 'Veronika Decides to Die' by Paulo Coelho, published in 1998, has the inmates of the mental asylum Villette pondering these questions.

It would be easy to organize and breakdown the thoughts, reasonings, and conclusions... but such an injustice to a book that allows everyone to say whatever they want, do what they wish, and be whoever they are.

I read this over a dark weekend and it made me fee OK. 💛
