This is just awful

Possibly the worst apocalypse story I’ve ever tried to listen to? I did try hard to skipping from fictional short story to unrealistic short story to morbid short story before I just gave up and returned the book.

Collection of unfinished novellas

Most of the stories were unfinished and left the reader hanging. Any story that engaged the reader failed to have an ending.

l liked it

I enjoyed this audiobook, all kinds of wasteland stories. Sadly, some read politics into everything but don't let it put you off. Some good stories here.

Great Narrators!

I love post-apocalyptic stories, but reading about pandemics in 2021? 😦 Still love this collection!

Enjoyable and Diverse Stories

I've read/ listened to all the books in the anthology and can appreciate this one because it's original stories, and a diverse collection of stories from a diverse section of American sci-fi authors. There were a few stories that lost my interest unlike the other two volumes but instead of skipping them I opted to listening to them. Overall the book was enjoyable and I loved the fact that I was putting my mind to work by imagining the stories playing out in my head.

Her reviews are worth the trouble!

I’m thrilled that more people are familiar with Ms Tamales. She has an exciting style. Ms Kyle is able to make Eric’s narratives come to life.

A bizarre collection

A couple of these stories are good, a few others are well-written but have ridiculous concepts.

However, most of them are pretty poor and the last two are appalling- and the language in the penultimate story is foul.

The female narrators are very weak. The male narrators are somewhat better.

Not sure why I bothered listening- I think I thought it might improve, but instead the stories got worse towards the end.

Rubbish

Some of the worst short stories I've heard. Dull , boring and totally unimaginative. Also very PC and pushing the whole WOKE agenda. I should have known it would be bad once I heard the intro...... Californian harping on about climate change doom and gloom .

SciFi Fan

I tend to like the post apocalyptic genre, even if the Zombie trope is a little overplayed in recent times. I also like anthologies of short stories so I thought this was a no brainer. I was wrong! The narration was...OK...but not engaging. The stories were, in a word, dreadful. Most of them didn't peak my interest in the slightest. They were full of so many cliches that I felt like I knew what was going to happen more than 50% of the time; also I feared a terminal case of eye roll. Of the first 5 stories, I think I skipped 3 after 10 minutes of listening, hoping that the next one was better. There was a delightfully bizzare tale of humanity at the end of time that I actually did find really interesting and made me commit to continuing. After starting the 5th or 6th Story (I can't remember), I gave up, which is something I rarely do. In my 4+ years as an audible member, this is only the second book that I have ever returned.

Really enjoyable

I am big sci-fi fan and found most of the stories taking my full attention. Narrators also did very good job adding more life to the stories.

Interesting in its own way

It is hard to give a solid rating because the stories vary so much in writing style and quality. With that said though there are some very interesting themes going on, and some impressive levels of creativity at work.

I think this kind of framework is a good outlet for young writers in a number of ways, but it also unfortunately comes with some not particularly favourable attitudes, and a significant amount of self indulgence as a result.

Overall i would like to see more compilations and projects like this, as again it works as a good outlet and experience for young writers and also for voice actors. But yeah, obviously not all are going to be home runs for everyone.
