Two men, absolute enemies, must unite to conquer an evil greater than anything their world has ever known. One is a warrior priest ready to sacrifice anything and everything for the cause of humanity's progress; the other, a sorcerer who has survived for countless centuries by a total submission to evil. Dark epic saga continues

The events describe in this book take place on a different continent compare to the first book. Our pragmatic priest and vampire team up again to confront an evil on other continent that has a potential to destroy the world as it exists.

Uneasy alliance of priest and vampire continue to evolve that neither can survive without each other. Though, inner conflict for priest continue to be a source of intrigue in the story line.

Book is semi repetitive in middle chapters, but it is not too cumbersome. One of the intriguing part of the book is the struggle between main characters and the bad guy becomes very abstract at times. Information extracted form magic is not accurate at times that bad guy sets subtle traps that leads to very interesting over all story. Like the first Book, this book remains dark if not darker.

Vampire goes through inner conflict as well, and makes surprising decisions which are outside of its normal character.

Book does lack humor and it is understandable that subject matter is not all that happy. Ending of the book, however, is very exciting and opens up a lot of possibilities for another book.

I enjoyed the narration that is appropriate for this book. It is not over dramatic nor too meek.

I recommend this book.

Strong Continuation of the Series

This book is a strong continuation of the story created in the first book. I continue to like the characters and it flirts with being a really amazing book, but it didn't quite feel like it realized that potential. Still, it was very solid and enjoyable, adding depth to the world and telling an interesting story.

Great book and well-narrated

I really enjoyed this book and the narration. It's performed very well and the narrator even does some accents for certain characters. I would highly recommend this book and the rest of the Coldfire Trilogy.

Brilliant!

This follow-up to Black Sun Rising, and Part 2 of the Coldfire Trilogy, ups the stakes, ups the threats, and ultimately eclipses its predecessor!
An idyllic land holds dark secrets as our heroes (and favorite anti-hero) are joined by a new companion in a new realm.
Bray's performance carries the book along so well that it was very hard to ever hit pause.
Now, on to Crown of Shadows!

Incredible story

The second book in this series did not disappoint. Beautiful written with an amazing descriptive story that makes you feel and see everything as if you were there. Cried my eyes out in parts! Can’t wait to start the 3rd book. RC Bray you are the master narrator. I haven’t heard better.
