Publisher's Summary
In a world of darkness where royal vampires are in charge, I spend my days working as a knight in the city formerly known as London. Instead of a lance and a horse, I rely on my trusty axe, Babe, and ride the occasional dragon. Every day, new threats emerge that require a dash of magic and a dollop of attitude.
Good thing I have both.
Naturally, danger comes with the territory. What no one knows is just how dangerous it is for me. If our vampire overlords discover what I am, they’ll execute me on the spot — no questions asked — which is why I avoid them at all costs.
Until now.
If only this one didn’t have a lethal reputation, a princely pedigree, and a quest that leads to more questions than answers. The heat between us doesn’t help matters.
Unfortunately, I can’t refuse a royal command, so I’m stuck until the job is complete.
And even if the job doesn’t kill me, the truth just might.
If you like humor, heart, a kick-butt heroine and an enemies-to-lovers romance, check out Wild Knight, Midnight Empire: The Tower, the first book in a new urban fantasy series.

Wow!
Really anxious to find out what's next in this world. it's the first book, and as with any fantasy type books, there's a lot of world building that is being done. Even still, there was plenty of action and push and pull in this one. Suzanne Elise Freeman did a fantastic job narrating.

Really hard to listen to a fake, overly enunciated accent
I have been lulled to sleep multiple times trying to listen to this book... the speed in which the narrator speaks, and the obviously fake, and horribly done accent are just too much. I ended up changing the narration speed just to not be bored to tears listening to the words roll off her tongue at snails pace while waiting for the story to progress.

Terrible narration
I literally couldn’t finish this book. The narrator tried so hard to put on an English accent. It made it unbearable and was so distracting all I kept thinking of is how this made it past an editor or publisher. The story itself could have been good but I can’t pay attention to it because of the terrible British accent the narrator is trying to put on.

A riveting adventure.
Interesting and imaginative world building. As usual with her characters, Annabel Chase creates them with fun, snark and flaws which allow for growth and development in ways not predictable. An amazing start to a new series. So looking forward to the next book.

Narrator's English accent is very distracting
I had previously read the book and loved it. I needed a book to listen to, had some extra credits and thought why not download this book.
The story is great, but the audiobook not so much, as the narrator's English accent is awful. She over-pronounces words, constantly slips back to an American accent and has about three different "English" accents for the main character, ranging from generic posh, to "west country" to just plain American. It is very distracting.

Great intro to series
Great introduction to the series, solid plot, great characters, good balance between light hearted and dark world (lol)
