Critic Reviews
"This program exemplifies the potential quality audio has for complementing text. Soothing music introduces and links the stories and verses. Subtle sounds of nature immerse the listener in Pooh's world and provide a backdrop for Peter Dennis' enchanting performance. Dennis' ability to switch characters and moods allows him to accurately portray the range of characters in the stories. These talents shine prominently....Dennis expresses the multitude of emotions in a childlike tone which is key to the success of the program. All ages will enjoy this marvelous performance of Milne's words." (AudioFile)
"Congratulations on your outstanding contribution to children and their families. The sort of growth your work inspires speaks for emotional, ethical, and character development." (Parents' Choice)

Does anyone really need to review such books?
The stories took me back in time... to York in the mid nineties when I first listened to these stories as an audio book. Audio cassette, to be precise. And then I read a book, and no it wasn't an ebook at all. Every time my meeting these tales Brough me joy. - Arvind Passey - Blog: www.passey.info. :)

Christopher Robins and his friends
After years, as an elder, felt a kid again, when I listened to the Pooh, Winnie and felt like being friends with the animals once again!

brilliant
If words are what it takes to tell someone about the perfection of such a creation, I'm afraid my vocabulary would be utterly lacking. Of all timeless classics, I would name this one an irreplaceable part and hope it brings as much joy it did to be to any reader.

Cute!Cute!Cute!
I downloaded this one one day when I was feeling blue and thought something lighthearted and fun would cheer me up. I felt a little silly doing it because I don't even have children to use as my excuse. I soon found that I had chosen well. Both the content and the reading had me laughing out loud and left me smiling long after it ended. I could wish it was a bit longer but I guess I'll have to download more Pooh books for that.

Can't stand the reader
It may be that I have heard Alan Bennett's reading of Pooh for 15 years and I am used to it, but I couldn't get past this reader's voice for Pooh, Christopher Robin and Piglet. At that point I stopped. We needed to replace our Alan Bennett tapes and I couldn't find new ones so I thought this would do. I realize Pooh is a bear of very little brain, but the reader not only gives him no brain at all, but makes him sound like a brainless old man with a sore throat. It is a voice much more suited to Eeyore. Christopher Robin sounds much too old and Piglet gives a little farty noise (that is supposed to be an oink) every time he speaks. That said, the reader's plain narrator voice is very good. As that was the only sample audible gave, I thought that I would enjoy the rest of the voices. I'm off to find another Alan Bennett.

A man's best friend is a bear called Pooh
I think we all remember these stories from reading them to the children or TV adaptations but Peter Dennis does the most wonderful job of bringing Pooh and all his friends back into our adult lives that this trip down memory lane is the best I have taken for some time. I have listened to the stories again and again and always with a smile on my face and the occasional chuckle out loud. Listen and enjoy.

Piglet is the BEST!!
This is a must have for any family with children 3 years and above. The stories are wonderful and voiced so well. You cannot help but laugh aloud each time Piglet talks. Great fun for all! Replayability? Definately... requested almost nightly by our boys.

The Real Winnie-the-Pooh
At last. Winnie-the-Pooh as it should be read. It's hard to believe that Mr. Dennis does all the voices himself. A remarkable performance. I think I get as much, if not more enjoyment out of these recordings than my nieces and nephews. A truly brilliant rendition of these wonderful stories.

Peter Dennis IS Winnie-the-Pooh!
This is by far the best audio version I've heard of Winnie-the-Pooh. Peter Dennis as narrator gets the characters just right; the music is just enough to add to the delight, without distraction; and the warm tone set by the narrator is incredibly inviting. [The real-life Christopher Robin - AA Milne's son - says Peter Dennis re-creates the characters as his father intended - and as he grew up hearing them.] Public Radio ran this Blackstone Audio version as a series some years ago, and I fell in love with it then. I'm thrilled to now share it with my preschooler. Be aware that the other version offered by Audible (the "dramatized" one) doesn't have any of these characteristics - I found it quite grating, and the characterizations were all wrong. The Peter Dennis version is perfect!

So disappointed ...
Based on the preview, I was looking forward to this - the narrator, Peter Dennis, has a very pleasant voice. Unfortunately, when he comes to the characters, this goes massively agley. Pooh sounds like a stoner. I could cope with that - except every line of Piglet's is concluded by a peculiar little snort. It's extraordinarily annoying.

Better than Disney
I think the grown-ups in the car enjoyed this one even more than the kids. The narrator's version of piglet was really delightful. Perfect for all ages.

10 stars
Ten stars would not be enough. Peter Denis is unsurpassable in delivery of this beautiful witty book which is by no means only for children. For me, it was always its sweet philosophical melancholy that has been drawing me in. The wise fool Pooh. Adorable character worth to be followed.

Just as it should be!
Naturally, as an American I have Sterling Holloway in my head as Winnie the Pooh and all the other voices as well. However, this rendition is just about perfect. I say just about, because the odd hiccups that Piglet is subject to (I think they are supposed to be grunts) are really quite annoying and distracting. But not enough to remove a star for performance. My son and I enjoyed this very much on a long drive across country....

Son loves it
We read Winnie the Pooh with our three year old, and he loves listening to this version of the stories over and over again, and often goes to sleep listening to it. The narration is lovely, not too fast, and the characters voices are easy to tell apart. I find Piglet's voice a bit irritating, but he loves it! Each chapter is separated by some gentle music and easy to navigate too. We're just bought The House at Pooh Corner as well!

Grrrrrrr! when will it end?
If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?
Ex public schoolboys tired of translating Latin script for the fun of it.
What was most disappointing about A. A. Milne’s story?
The narrator
Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Dennis’s performances?
No, not ever even if I went deaf and this was offered as a cure.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment and frustration
Any additional comments?
10 minutes into a 6 hour journey I was wishing I had not chosen to listen to Winnie the Pooh read by Peter Dennis, I had to pull over and stop 3 times to stop the pompus prattle from monopolising Audible on an ipad, it was impossible to stop! I now understand road rage. There is bound to be someone who enjoys this if it is you get help!
This is seriously awful and the first Audible Audiobook I haven't listened to all the way through.

Absolutely wonderful!
My son has listened to this audiobook since 18 months as we travel by car. He often comes out with different phrases from it. I would say its suitable for all ages. Peter Dennis is a master narrator and makes the audiobook so magical. We listen to this and all the other Winnie the Pooh audiobooks narrated by Peter on repeat. We never seem to tired of them

Beautiful even when you’re a Grandma!
I decided to listen to this while doing mindful colouring, it was a perfect combination. I have always loved Pooh and Piglet and their companions. Beautifully written, and the narrator did a wonderful job of making all the characters come alive.
I shall listen again and again because I loved it so. My inner child is now at peace x 😉💚

Absolutely priceless
Here I am aged 70 and never remember being read any of these stories as a child. I have so enjoyed the simple tales, read as they were meant to be, with all the right sounds in the right places......piglet for example. I have seen the story of Christopher Robin and his family so know the background. Children were imaginative and resourceful in these times in a way I remember. They probably still are, but modern imaginations now. I’ve been drawing Pooh pictures while listening so giving myself full enjoyment. An absolute classic.

Absolutely loved this reading of Winnie-The-Pooh! I’ve read it, myself and to my children, several times in the past, and listening to this version has been my best experience of it yet. This is a classic we will come back to again and again. So much wisdom here. And entertainment! Thank you, Audible!

Simple tales to give us a place to rest awhile from this at times wearisome world.
