Publisher's Summary
From New York Times best-selling author Corinne Michaels comes a heartbreakingly beautiful stand-alone story about letting love in.
I’m losing myself trying to save everyone else....
As a doctor, I walk a dangerously delicate balance of being compassionate but not overly invested. The same is true in my personal life - love is a luxury I can’t afford.
It isn’t until Dr. Westin Grant breaks down all my walls and offers me a future, I find myself wondering if I’m brave enough to risk my heart.
When who I was and who I’ve tried to become collide during my clinical trial, the fate of one patient changes everything.
In a single moment, everything I’ve worked for is jeopardized. My integrity, my career, and even my relationship with Westin.
He loved me once. I just hope he can love me always.

Breathtakingly Beautiful, Powerfully Poignant!
This is such a beautiful, powerful, and emotional story. Dr. Serenity Adams is a prominent gynecologist oncologist who is starting a ground breaking cancer treatment trial. She has been able to compartmentalize her feelings when it comes to her patients, but there is always the exception. She has had a 2 year affair with a respected colleague and friend, Dr. Westin Grant. She also has kept him at a distance because of a terrible and heartbreaking loss of her first love that she never recovered from. Westin is so kind, supportive, encouraging, and totally swoony. He is done letting Serenity hold back, he wants more and will do what it takes to make her see how good they are together. But when a ghost from the past reappears, Serenity's world is turned upside down. She is so blinded by wanting to help save lives, that she just might lose everything she has worked for including her career and Westin. This breathtaking story about Serenity & Westin is one of hope, heartbreak, courage, and unconditional love. Michaels skillfully revealed this story in alternating past and present sequence allowing me to be truly engaged both emotionally and thoughtfully. She expertly weaved a tale of sacrifice, and heartbreak, but ultimately of hope, healing, and love. I loved both Serenity & Westin for their strength, love and devotion.
This story is a raw and emotional journey with several twists and turns that will take your breath away.
Narrator Julia Whelan is so compelling as she brings this story to life. Not only is her voice easy to listen to, but her character changes are amazing and it makes this story feel even more real and honest. Her intonations are spot on, and she makes me feel all the myriad of emotions that Serenity, Westin, and all the characters experience as they discover all the secrets, loss, and love throughout. This is storytelling at it's absolute finest and I loved every moment of this beautiful, raw and emotional journey!

Letting go is the ultimate weight lifted
Oh how this book is everything I love about Corinne Michaels. This story was about a woman's journey to healing, self awareness and accepting the love you truly deserve. It's a book worth being read/listened to more than once.

Predictable
Way too much emphasis on “what if’s”. The story could have been told in 30% of the time. Don’t bother.

Melodramatic
I had to force myself to keeping on listening to this melodrama. The protagonist, Serenity, was neurotically guilt ridden and self engrossed. The other characters were flat and unrealistic

You Loved Me Once is Perfection!!!
You Loved Me Once by Corinne Michaels is another amazing book from this author. I was so excited for this book but I wasn’t prepared for my heart to be so shattered. This book had me crying and sobbing so much I had to pull my car over and stop I was so wrecked while listening but then with the wild roller coaster of emotions I was smiling and even laughing. This is such a beautiful love story and is so well written. It is just pure perfection. This author is one of the best in my book. I highly recommend this audio book. The narrator Julia Whelan couldn't have been better. She brought these characters to life.

10 Stars! Best Corinne Michael’s Story to Date! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Elizabeth @ Carolina Chic’s Read
You Loved Me Once gripped me from the start I got all the Angst I love from romance and all the butterflies in my belly. I am an avid reader of this author and this is her best story to date. Serenity and Westin’s story is one of opening your heart to love after it was crushed in the past. When that same past intersects your present you question everything… your life, career and love.
Top Read for 2021! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Addicting and compelling
I've read most of Corinne's books and I've loved so many of them, but this has to be one of her best. She really brought the feels, angst, and emotion with You Loved Me Once. This is an addicting and compelling read all about the choices we make that can be wrong even if they're right, and right even if they're wrong.
Serenity is a doctor who has a passion for what she does. After losing her mom to cancer, it solidified that this is what she was meant to do with her life. Now, fourteen years later, she's running her first clinical trial that could change the lives of so many women fighting for their lives (and fertility) with ovarian cancer. With this trial comes a blast from her past and some complications she never saw coming.
Serenity has been a bit standoffish since not only losing her mom, but her college fiancé. She's spent the last few years being casual with another doctor, Westin Grant. Westin is everything and works hard to break down the walls Ren has put up. She swore she'd never let herself fall in love again because she didn't want to experience that heartbreak but Westin doesn't give her much choice. He's pretty incredible.
As I said before this book is about choices. Ren has to make a choice that could effect her career, her relationship, and her world as she knows it. It's a situation I wouldn't want to be in and that choice keeps us on pins and needles seeing how things would work out for her.
I loved watching the growth and changes Serenity made throughout this book. There were so many great scenes with her family and of course, my favorite part about this was the romance. Though the romance isn't always first and foremost in this story it plays a large part. Westin is most definitely my favorite hero of Corinne's (sorry, Mark) and he was incredible, patient, and so loving. This story touched me and made me think, feel, and fall in love. Highly recommend this one!

If you like the Hallmark channel you'll enjoy this
The only reason I listened to this story is because of who the author is. I liked liked hero but the heroine fell short. The heroine is selfish and her "traumatic past" isn't all that traumatic. She's always going on about how she is a strong feminine woman who doesn't need a man, yet her whole story is based off how she could not get over a a past relationship, with a MAN 75-or-some-other- obscure-number of years ago. Then after SHE screws up her life and her friends come over and try to help her she gets mad because they won't give her a day to sulk by herself. I wanted to scream at her to stop being so God damned selfish and be grateful that she even had friends. Corinne Michael's is an excellent author but I did not like the heroine in this story. Find something else of hers and enjoy!

The one that got away.
What would you do if the 'one that got away' walked back into your life at a pivotal moment? For many of us, we glorify the past and the lead character does this and some! A heartfelt storyline which I enjoyed.

A beautiful relatable story.
This story is realistic, beautiful and emotional. It is not easy wnen loose someone, either by death a broken relationship or a Doctor loosing a patient. People react in different ways to lost and this story showed it how this los affected the different characters. I experience many emotions while reading and I could empathise with the characters.

An easy listen.
Not the best not the worst. It was an average book. The story was a little predictable but I enjoyed it overall. It’s so obvious the men in the book are written by a woman as the things they say are not what any man says unless he’s incredibly cheesy. I found the undying love speeches from the men a little repetitive and cringey but over all it was s good story and I liked the book.

Very Greys anatomy. A nice holiday read but...
a bit to lovey dovey for me. I liked the oncology storyline and detail was good but found it hard to imagine a consultant being so emotional and immature. Dragged at the end for me.

Baggy, slow , tedious. Very disappointing
Torturous. I couldn’t finish. Way too much information on oncology trial rules and ethics. I could have read the journal of oncology and enjoyed it more. It wasn’t credible that the heroine was a consultant surgeon/ oncologist yet made such stupid decisions about whether to veer from the trial rule.
Really not worth my time

Reasonable Book If You Have Nothing Better To Do
Look, it’s not a great book - the storyline is meandering and similar phrases such as ‘his hand dropped’ are used over and over again. There’s also a bunch of storyline inconsistencies.
My main gripe is while the voice acting was good, I found it hard to distinguish between when the character was talking and when it was just internal monologue.
Overall though, I enjoyed it and hey, it was free.

Wake me when something happens
Chapter 4.
That's how far I made it. I've enjoyed Julia Whelan's narration before, but this was not dissimilar to the reading of an encyclopaedia. A flat, boring snoozefest.
I might park the book and give it another shot in the future when I'm desperate. If I change my mind, I'll update this review, but until then, sorry but it's just too boring 😴

Terrible Book
I love Corinne's books but this one was long winded, whiny and repeated the same emotions and feelings over and over and over in different words. I didn't finish it it was awful. It was only one characters voice throughout the parts I listened to and it got boring and annoying. Don't recommend taking the time on this one.
