Critic Reviews

If you like your contemporaries with a tiny piece of magic, this emotional YA is perfect for you
Have your tissues at the ready when you dive into Dustin Thao's emotional novel You've Reached Sam
Thao skillfully marries a quiet, elegiac novel about grief with a provocative sf conceit. A poignant and moving read
A touch of magic, first love and loss, this is the story of romance and heartache
You’ve Reached Sam is a hauntingly remarkable debut. Dustin Thao gently weaves grief, regret, second chances, and the honestly beautiful moments we carry from a first love. Every tear you will shed reading this book will be worth it (Julian Winters, award-winning author of Running With Lions)
I knew full well that I was signing up for a tragic love story, and that's exactly what I got. So now I am here to warn you: This book will absolutely make you cry. Make sure you've got a box of tissues handy, and I mean a full box

Without hesitation I can definitely say this is the most emotional story I've read.
The story lets you understand how connection between two person are so important and how much you need to move on after something bad happens with either of you for you and for the other person also.
The ending of the story is expected but still unexpected. Does that make any sense? Maybe not, but still everything in fiction doesn't have to make sense, but it needs to be good enough to remember it all the time. And this is the story that you'll remember throughout your life.

Just to let everyone know, that this story carries a lot of sadness. So if you are not looking forward to that kind of story or want to read light story, or too much sadness is a red flag for you, then you should avoid this book. Otherwise to all my fellow readers, I'd definitely suggest you to go for it.

Too much emotional story

The ending is heartstopper and literally emotional, and it's a good read, I enjoyed it, but somewhere in the middle, I felt lil bit stretched and wanted to put down and no to read more, as it wasn't getting much of interesting and was failing to keep me tied up with the story, but if we force ourselves to continue so of course the ending is heartstopper. I would rate it 3.5

Heartstopper. Emotional.
