About this listen
A wonderful tale of a young man’s coming of age, Zorba the Greek has been a classic of world literature since it was first translated into English in 1952 and made into an unforgettable movie with Anthony Quinn. Zorba, an irrepressible, earthy hedonist, sweeps his young disciple along as he wines, dines, and loves his way through a life dedicated to fulfilling his copious appetites. Zorba is irresistible in this charming audio production by veteran narrator George Guidall.

Zorba doesn’t shy away from putting across his point of view and thank him for that. He is conviction, clarity and confidence personified. You may not agree with him on many things, but you will never forget him.
A beautiful tale of two friends in an early 20th century setting of a Cretan village takes us through the complexity of human nature and how most, by choice or by conditioning, live their lives in a shallow manner. It will question your understanding of religion, ethics, morals and God. It will make you question your way of living - a question if answered with honesty and courage, can trigger change.
This goes down as one of my favourite reads (or listens, rather). Would have given it a 5 star, had I not found some of the author’s musings repetitive in nature.
All you lack is a little folly

I am becoming greedy to make every writer's experience my own. So I am reading books like a maniac. I hope this is not an escape from my monotonous life. I wish I could control this irresistible hunger for books. Just like the Nikos said, " I want to chew all the books and then spit it in my book and get rid of it."
Not everyone can relish books like these because you have to develop a spiritual quest to understand the content shared in this book thoroughly. This book soothed my spirit.
