North Carolina Tar Heels Football reclaimed the Victory Bell with a 24–20 win over Duke. We break down the late touchdown drive, defensive stands, and concerns that remain after another dramatic road victory.
For college football fans, North Carolina’s rivalry win raises a bigger question: are the Tar Heels learning how to finish close games? After surrendering a 17-point lead, UNC delivered a 78-yard touchdown drive and a last-minute interception to improve to 4–2.
We analyze what consecutive road wins mean for Bill Belichick’s team, how Bobby Petrino’s offense responded under pressure, and why North Carolina’s red-zone defense proved decisive. The result shows growing resilience, while two lost fumbles and six consecutive scoreless possessions leave clear areas to address.
Billy Edwards Jr. finished with 191 passing yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. Jaylen McGill scored the winning touchdown from 24 yards out, while freshman Kenton Dopson III sealed the victory with an interception. Duke’s comeback and 373–326 advantage in total offense help explain why this game remained close.
