Almost Awake is a podcast for people who think a lot and occasionally spiral about society, but in a fun way. This show explores culture, unspoken rules, and the weird systems we all live inside of. Expect thoughtful takes, personal stories, humor, and moments of “wait… why do we do this?” This isn’t about having life figured out, it’s about being curious, questioning the default, and choosing awareness over autopilot.Avery Jordan Social Sciences

Why do we spend so much of our lives working, and who decided that five days a week was the standard?

In this episode of almost awake, we’re questioning the 40-hour work week and the idea that being busy is the same thing as being productive. After losing my job and stepping away from the 9–5 routine, I started looking at work a little differently. From pointless meetings and busy work to the history of the standard work week and the growing movement for a four-day work week, let’s talk about why the way we work deserves a second look.

What if we could spend less time working and more time actually living? More time with the people we love, pursuing our passions, resting, creating, and being human outside of a job title.

Maybe the way things have always been done isn’t necessarily the way they should be done.
