A dispute arose between an oil merchant and a flower vendor over a money pouch, leading them to present their case before a judge. The oil merchant claimed that after the flower vendor bought oil from his shop, his money pouch went missing and was later found at the flower vendor's shop. However, the flower vendor maintained that the money in the pouch was his hard-earned daily income.
To find the truth, the judge devised a clever plan and asked for a bowl of water, into which he dropped the coins from the pouch. Since no oil residue floated to the surface of the water, the judge ruled that the pouch belonged to the flower vendor, explaining that if it belonged to the oil merchant, the coins would inevitably be coated with oil. Exposed in his lie, the oil merchant hung his head in shame, while the flower vendor thanked the judge for serving justice.
Moral of the Story:
Critical thinking and presence of mind can solve even the most challenging disputes.
Greed and deceit will eventually be exposed, leading only to disgrace.
