What Then Say You?
Anger can look like a “normal” reaction, but we keep noticing the same root underneath it: unmet expectations. When we’re frustrated with our spouse, embarrassed by our kids in public, or tired of waiting on God, the heat of anger reveals what we really wanted from the moment. We talk through the difference between correction and anger, why patience isn’t just personality, and how love stays grounded even when the day feels like a battleground.
We also go after a bigger drift we’ve watched in ourselves and in church culture: starting with genuine zeal for Christ, then slowly sliding into hustle, self-protection, and performance. “Make the vision plain” (Habakkuk 2:2) gets quoted like a personal goal strategy, but the context is God responding to a prophet’s grief and saying, in effect, I’ve got this. That vision is not our next achievement. It’s God’s sovereignty, God’s timing, and God’s glory. We connect that to success, motives, and the subtle American dream temptation to put Jesus on our plans instead of surrendering our plans to Jesus.
Finally, we tie “be angry and do not sin” to something deeper than behavior management. Anger turns into sin when we lose faith, shrink back, and stop enduring in trust. When our “eye” gets filled with the world, darkness follows, but when the vision is clear and centered on Christ, light follows. If you’ve been wrestling with frustration, ambition, or disappointment, this one is an invitation to check your motives at the door and return to simple faith. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, leave a review, and run it against the Word for yourself: where are you tempted to trade trust for control?
