Australian broadcasting legend Bryan Martin OAM has called the Cox Plate 28 times across his career.

The race is named in honour of William Samuel (W. S.) Cox, the racing club's founder.

First run on Saturday 28 October 1922 with a purse of £1,000, the race is now considered by many to be the best few minutes in world sport.

BM speaks to the legends that have elevated the Cox Plate to the standing it holds today.

In this first edition of At the Clocktower Bryan Martin is joined by three legend jockeys from New Zealand who made the Cox Plate their own.

Gary Willetts took Battle Heights to the front in 1974.

Brent Thompson took glory on 4 occasions through the 1970's, three in succession with Dulcify being the most memorable ride for "Babe" in 1979.

Greg Childs ended the century and began a new one on board the dominant Sunline, who's victory in 2000 is still memorable for all.
