A leader is gone, the future is unclear, and God doesn’t hand out a step-by-step plan. He tells Joshua something simpler and harder: cross the Jordan, stay faithful to My Word, and be strong and courageous because I am with you. That opening scene in Joshua 1 becomes our lens for leadership, change, and trust when a community stands on the edge of a new season. We talk honestly about why Old Testament promises must be read in context, and why God’s unchanging character still gives real confidence today.
We also bring the conversation home. Our church has 118 years of history, filled with sacrifice, service, and people finding hope in the gospel, and we refuse to treat the next chapter like a victory lap. We name the tension that comes with new methods and unfamiliar roads, then return to what cannot change: God’s presence, obedience, and the mission to invest, build, and multiply so more people come to know Jesus.
Joshua 3 adds a powerful picture of faith in motion: the Ark goes first, the Jordan is at flood stage, and the people have to start walking before they feel “ready.” If you’re facing a transition, a tough decision, or a future you can’t control, this message will help you trade certainty for trust and comfort for calling.
