There’s a big leadership transition coming for the City of Beaumont.

Chris Boone will become Beaumont’s 27th City Manager effective May 1, following the retirement of current City Manager Kenneth Williams.

In this edition of the Beaumont Beat, we sit down with both leaders to reflect on the past and share their perspectives on the future of our city.

Right now, there is real concern across our community, especially when it comes to violence involving our youth.

We’ve seen several incidents in recent weeks, and it’s something that’s weighing heavily on families, neighborhoods, and our city as a whole.

These situations don’t just impact those directly involved, they affect how safe people feel in our parks, in our neighborhoods, and in their everyday lives.

Today, we’re joined by Beaumont Mayor Roy West and Officer Chancellor Van Houten with the Beaumont Police Department to talk about what’s happening, how the City is responding, and what residents should know moving forward.

Boom Fest has been the showcase of fiercely independent movies, music and more in Southeast Texas now for 18 years.
