• Service Through Singing | S4 E1: The Melody Maids of Beaumont, Texas
    Jan 13 2026

We’re going back in time to tell you about a group of young women from Beaumont that made a huge impact around the world from the 1940s to the 1970s.They were known as the Melody Maids, an all-girl singing group led by choir teacher Eloise Milam. Over 1500 girls traveled the world performing for our U.S. troops. A documentary was recently released about this amazing group of girls who got their start on the stage of Beaumont’s historic Jefferson Theatre back in 1942. Ms. Kai Jai Conner, Executive Producer of The Melody Maids Movies, will give us some history of the group and tell us what it was like to be a part of this incredible legacy of morals, manners and music.

  • Bond Propositions Election Results | S3 E10: Mayor and City Manager Talk About What's Next
    Nov 5 2025

🗳️Voters have made their voices heard in the 2025 Bond Election. Join us as we sit down with Beaumont City Manager Kenneth Williams and Mayor Roy West for a post-election wrap up! Voters in the City of Beaumont have approved Proposition A of the City’s proposed $264.2 million General Obligation (GO) Bond package. The measure will fund critical improvements to infrastructure, drainage, streets, and sidewalks across the city, addressing long-term community needs and enhancing overall quality of life.

While other propositions and the proposed venue tax did not receive voter approval, the passage of Proposition A reflects the community’s shared commitment to investing in Beaumont’s core infrastructure and future growth.

Following certification of election results, the City will begin the process of issuing bonds related to Proposition A. Financial advisors and bond counsel will assist with structuring the bond sales, which may occur in phases based on project timelines and market conditions. All contracts for design, construction, and project delivery will be reviewed by the Beaumont City Council in a public setting to ensure transparency and accountability. For more information about Proposition A, visit beaumonttexas.gov/bond

  • Fixing the Drainage Flow | S3 E7: How the City is Fighting Flooding
    Jul 21 2025

If you’ve lived in Southeast Texas for any time at all, you know we get a lot of rain here! In fact, Beaumont gets about twice the annual amount of rainfall seen by the rest of the nation.

And with all that water, unfortunately, of course, comes flooding and drainage issues not seen by other parts of the nation as well. That can create some challenges, so it’s important to have someone super qualified to handle all these issues.

And that person for the city of Beaumont is our Public Works Director, Molly Villarreal. She’s talking about what The City is doing to help alleviate some of these issues for our citizens.

  • Funding Our Future Projects | S3 E6: The Potential of Using Bonds
    Jun 10 2025
The City of Beaumont has a bond committee working hard on some proposals for our future. They meet to discuss what to include in a potential bond proposal that may go up for election on the November ballot. The City hasn’t had a bond election since 1983, the same year that Sally Ride became the first American woman in space, and when Michael Jackson debuted the moonwalk. That was 42 years ago. Back then Beaumont passed a voter-approved $16 million General Obligation bond package for drainage improvements. On today’s episode, one of Beaumont’s Assistant City Managers, June Ellis will join us to explain what the bond committee is discussing and how you can get involved in the process.
