    Apr 7 2026

Deeply loved. And while there is negativity in the world, there is also a growing community of people who support, uplift, and follow their journey — as Megan continues to raise awareness and create meaningful memories for her daughter. This is a conversation about resilience, perspective, and the kind of love that shows up — no matter what.⸻✨ WHAT WE TALK ABOUT • Pregnancy after multiple miscarriages • Finding out she was pregnant on the day of her dad’s funeral — and what that meant to her • Scans, uncertainty, and being told everything was “fine” • A traumatic birth and the moments that followed • Living with BFLS (a condition with ~100 known cases worldwide) • Navigating uncertainty about the future and day-to-day life • Public reactions, online comments, and shifting perception • The power of community and social media in raising awareness • Creating memories, bucket lists, and making every moment count • What motherhood really looks like when life doesn’t go to plan⸻💭 WHY THIS EPISODE MATTERSNot every motherhood journey is straightforward. Not every story fits into the version we’re used to seeing. This episode brings you into the reality of what it means to adapt, to advocate, and to keep going — even when things feel uncertain. And at the centre of it all… is love.⸻🔗 FOLLOW ALANA’S JOURNEYWant to follow their story and support their journey?👉 https://linktr.ee/meg_magee⸻Chapters:(00:00) - Introduction: Megan’s story of perseverance and hope(03:42) - Megan’s early life, loss of father, and journey to motherhood(07:27) - Signs during pregnancy and initial worries(09:44) - Birth complications and early medical challenges(11:16) - Diagnosis of BFLS through genetic testing(15:10) - Megan’s experiences with seizures, blindness, and hospital stays(18:45) - Social media and the fight against online negativity(21:16) - Explaining BFLS and its impact on Alana(23:50) - Day in Megan’s life: caregiving routines and home modifications(26:23) - Family outings, public spaces, and the need for inclusive infrastructure(33:00) - Prognosis, hope, and the importance of not giving up(35:01) - Coping with societal attitudes and protecting mental health(39:21) - The power of community, social media, and continuous advocacy(45:00) - Addressing online hate and rethinking societal perceptions(50:24) - Challenges in public accessibility and the future of disability advocacy(55:16) - Personal growth, becoming a stronger advocate, and inspiring others(59:22) - Megan’s closing message of hope, love, and continuous fight for inclusion⸻⚠️ Podcast Disclaimer• Informational Only: This content is for general information and entertainment. • The Phone Call That Changed Everything: A Stepmum’s Perspective on the Ripple Effect of Suicide
    Mar 10 2026

What happens to the people left behind after suicide — and how do families learn to live again?

In this powerful episode, we explore suicide awareness, grief, mental health, family loss, and the conversations that could help save lives.

Liz shares her deeply personal experience of the day her partner Andy lost his daughter, Sinead, to suicide — and the ripple effect that moment had on their entire family.

Speaking from the perspective of a partner and stepmum, Liz reflects on the shock of that life-changing phone call, the complicated grief that followed, and the difficult position of supporting someone you love through unimaginable loss while navigating your own emotions.

Liz also shares the unique challenges of grief in a blended family — including guilt, fear, silence, and the feeling that there is no handbook for how to move forward.

Nearly five years on, Liz speaks openly about the lessons she has learned about love, resilience, and the importance of talking about suicide more openly.

This conversation also explores something many families struggle with:

how to have the difficult conversations that could help prevent suicide in the first place.

Liz shares the simple but powerful approach she now encourages people to take when someone might be struggling — ask again, and if something still doesn’t feel right, ask a third time.

Because sometimes the conversations we avoid are the ones that matter most.

It might feel uncomfortable. You might worry about saying the wrong thing, or even feel guilty for bringing it up.

But what if that conversation meant they were still here?

This episode offers a perspective we rarely hear — the partner and step-parent trying to hold a family together while navigating the unimaginable.

It’s a conversation about grief, love, awareness, and learning how to show up for the people we care about — especially the younger generation.

    In this episode we explore

    • The ripple effect suicide has on families

    • Grief from a partner and step-parent perspective

    • Navigating loss in a blended family

    • The guilt and silence many families experience after suicide

    • Supporting a partner through devastating loss

    • Why we need to talk about suicide more openly

    • How asking the right questions can help start life-saving conversations

  • My Earliest Memory Was Violence” Childhood Trauma, Domestic Abuse & Building a Legacy Through The Fynix Project
    Mar 3 2026

In this deeply moving episode of Becoming Lucy, Lucy and Hana sit down with Darryl to explore the lasting impact of childhood trauma, domestic violence, and what it truly means to survive.

Darryl’s earliest memories are shaped by violence at home. He shares what it was like growing up in fear, living in a women’s refuge, and experiencing the kidnapping of his siblings before his teenage years.

At 11, he was groomed by a trusted adult. The silence and survival mode that followed shaped his nervous system, his identity, and his mental health for years.

As an adult, he experienced relationship abuse, compounding earlier trauma and reinforcing patterns of hypervigilance and PTSD. After losing his younger brother, grief intensified everything.

At one point, Darryl found himself sitting on the edge of a bridge — a moment that forced change.

    This episode explores:

    • Childhood domestic violence and psychological abuse

    • The kidnapping of siblings

    • Male survivors of grooming

    • Adult relationship abuse

    • PTSD, survival responses and trauma-informed recovery

    • Grief after sibling loss

    • Women’s refuge and rebuilding safety

    • Suicidal crisis and intervention

    • Lived-experience-led mental health support

Today, Darryl is the founder of The Fynix Project, creating accessible workshops and safe spaces for people carrying trauma. His mission is clear: to provide the tools he didn’t have, help people now, and push for stronger policy around child protection and survivor-focused mental health care.

As a father — with a daughter and another baby on the way — his drive is about impact, accountability and real change.

This conversation is about trauma, mental health advocacy, policy reform, lived experience, and turning survival into support.

If you or someone you know has experienced childhood trauma, grooming, domestic abuse, or mental health struggles — this episode offers hope, practical tools, and proof that cycles can be broken.

  • From Baby Loss to Neonatal Nurse: Amy Draper on Motherhood, Grief & Manifestation
    Feb 17 2026

In this deeply moving episode of Becoming Lucy, Lucy and Hana sit down with Amy Draper — a mother of five whose journey through motherhood has been shaped by love, loss, faith and resilience.

Amy shares the story of her first son, Charlie, who was born with gastroschisis, a serious abdominal condition where a baby’s intestines develop outside of the body. Charlie lived for 12 precious days. Amy speaks openly about the instincts she had during pregnancy, the conversations with doctors, and the heartbreaking decision to let him go.

We talk about what grief really looks like — not just in the immediate aftermath, but in the years that follow.

Amy also shares how her experiences deepened her calling within neonatal nursing, returning to work with families in the very environment that once held her own story.

In this honest and powerful conversation, we explore:

    • baby loss and navigating grief as a mother

    • pregnancy after loss and the journey to a rainbow baby

    • neonatal care and supporting families in crisis

    • manifestation, intention and the power of language

    • mental health, faith and resilience

    • trusting your instincts as a parent

    • turning pain into purpose

Amy also opens up about her youngest son, Donnie, who was diagnosed with Aarskog-Scott syndrome, a rare genetic condition. She shares the uncertainty during pregnancy, the medical decisions they faced, and what it means to raise a child with additional needs while holding onto hope and faith.

Together with her partner, Amy created The Magical Rainbow Babies, a beautifully written children’s book designed to help siblings understand grief and the loss of a baby in an age-appropriate, gentle way. Amy generously gifts copies of the book to families who need them.
