Season One Review — The Island May Be Sleeping…

Season One of Widow’s Bay is officially in the books, so Steven and Raven are taking one last look at the evidence board before the island settles in for its long slumber.

We hand out the first-ever Widow’s Bay Awards—favorite episode, best character arc, biggest WTF moment, worst decision, most terrifying moment, best performance and more. We also tackle the mysteries that are still keeping us up at night and make our predictions for Season Two. Werewolves? Lake monsters? A return to the original settlement? The mysterious hospital? And which characters might not survive what comes next?

Then we open the mailbag for some Field Reports, including theories about Patricia, Ruth, the Boogeyman and what may really be happening beneath the surface of Widow’s Bay.

Finally, we look ahead to the next phase of Beyond Widow’s Bay: Jaws, The Shadow Over Innsmouth, literary investigations, and other movies and shows that share a little DNA with our favorite strange island.

    Season One may be over.

The island may be sleeping. Apparently, we are not.

Stay curious. Stay observant. Until next time.

Episode 10: “We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time” — Part Two

The storm may be over, but the investigation is just getting started.

In Part Two of our Widows Bay season finale coverage, Steven and Raven dig into the revelations, unanswered questions, and theories left behind by “We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time.”

What does the finale tell us about Richard Warren’s covenant and the sacrifices that kept Widows Bay safe? What happened to the town’s carefully organized system for paying its supernatural debt? And what exactly has been hiding beneath the folklore all along?

Steven follows a trail of teeth, bites, wolves, and one very suspicious family story that may reach all the way back to Episode One, while Raven looks at the uncomfortable parallel between Tom and Bashir—two fathers willing to sacrifice someone else’s family to protect their own.

Plus: Kenny, the bells, the Warren bloodline, the meaning of fear, a possible werewolf problem, and plenty of red string as we take one last look at the evidence board before closing the case on Season One.

The storm has passed. Eight bells remain. And Widows Bay still has some explaining to do.

    Apple’s Official Episode Description:
We Hope You Enjoyed Your Time!

We’ve reached the Season One finale of Widow’s Bay—and there was no way we were fitting this investigation into one podcast.

So Episode 10 is becoming a two-part Beyond Widow’s Bay investigation.

In Part One, Steven and Raven concentrate on the episode itself, walking through the finale, the characters, the reveals, and where the story leaves Widow’s Bay at the end of its first season.

Then, in Part Two, we clear some space on the evidence board.

Steven heads into the Mythos to revisit clues that may have been hiding in plain sight all season. Raven takes over with the Raven Board for a deeper look at the characters and psychology behind the finale. And finally, we put everything we’ve learned over ten episodes together and indulge in a little speculation about where Season Two might take us.

There are still plenty of unanswered questions.

    And we have theories.

The Season One investigation continues in Part Two.

    Stay curious. Stay observant.
    Investigation ongoing.

  • Widows Bay Episode 9 - Emergency Shelter

    Apple TV Official Description

“Please seek shelter should a centuries-old storm rage toward the island and plunge us into darkness; enjoy a card game.”

    Beyond Widow’s Bay Case Briefing

A centuries-old storm bears down on Widow’s Bay, sending the islanders underground and into Emergency Shelter #3. But while the town waits out the storm, Tom, Patricia, and Wyck discover that the danger facing the island may have less to do with what’s happening outside than with a bloodline that has survived for centuries.

Rosemary takes center stage with a genealogy lesson that traces the descendants of Richard Warren and reveals a critical piece of the island’s history: Ruth is the last living descendant of the Warren bloodline. Suddenly, ending the curse presents Tom with a horrifyingly simple—and morally impossible—choice. Meanwhile, the storm itself provides another reminder that whatever controls Widow’s Bay doesn’t necessarily follow the laws of nature.

This week on Beyond Widow’s Bay, Steven and Raven break down the revelations hidden inside Emergency Shelter, the Warren family tree, the implications of Shelter #3, and what the episode tells us about the rules governing the island as we head toward the Season 1 finale.

In Steve’s Mythos, we descend underground to look at the shelter through an older mythological lens: refuge stories, journeys into the underworld, and the ancient idea of retreating into a protected space while catastrophe transforms the world outside.

And on the Raven Board, Raven digs into the characters forced into an increasingly uncomfortable question: How far are you willing to go if you genuinely believe one person’s death could save everyone else?

Mythology on one side, psychology on the other, with Widow’s Bay sitting in the middle.

Stay curious. Stay observant. Investigation ongoing.

    Apple TV’s official description:
“It’s time to unpack your baggage. Some things are harder to leave behind than others.”

    Beyond Widow’s Bay Case Briefing:

Some things on Widow’s Bay refuse to stay buried.

This week, Steven and Raven investigate Episode 8, “Your Baggage,” as the island’s past comes walking back into the present and the Boogeyman raises some very uncomfortable questions.

Raven digs into the characters, their baggage, and the choices that continue to follow them, while Steven heads down another mythological rabbit hole: golems, The X-Files, and the centuries-old idea of creating—or reanimating—something for a specific purpose.

But there may be an even simpler explanation.

What if the Boogeyman never died?

Was he a man? A monster? Something created by the island? Or could Widow’s Bay’s monsters serve a purpose we still don’t understand?

And after what happened at Sunset Cocktails, has Patricia somehow changed the rules?

The evidence board is getting crowded.

Some places stay with you forever. Some baggage follows you home.

    Apple TV’s official episode description:
“Set out to sea with Mayor Loftis and cherished local figure, Wyck! They are attending to some business—best to simply enjoy the voyage.”

This week on Beyond Widow’s Bay, Steven and Raven head out to sea for Episode 7, “Seasickness,” as Tom and Wyck attempt to deal with Richard Warren—and discover that ending a centuries-old covenant may be considerably more complicated than simply taking its architect off the island.

Raven takes the lead as we dig into Tom and Wyck, their increasingly strange relationship, and what the episode reveals about the burdens both men are carrying. Then Steven heads back into the mythology, looking at covenants, sacrifice, Richard Warren’s bargain, and the possibility that the island and whatever evil inhabits it may not be the same thing at all.

Is Widow’s Bay the source of the evil—or could the island itself be trying to contain something much worse?

Rough waters. Deeper truths. Same island.

  • Widows Bay Episode 6 - Our History
    Sep 8 2026

Feedback for the show? Send us a text here

    Apple’s official episode description:
“The history of Widow’s Bay is a beautiful tale of marriage, loyalty, and a love that endures beyond lifetimes. That’s all.”

This week, Beyond Widow’s Bay goes back to the beginning.

In “Our History,” the island takes us centuries into the past, where Sarah Wescott arrives in Widow’s Bay to marry its founder, Richard Warren. What begins as the story of a new bride joining a prosperous colonial settlement quickly becomes something much darker—and gives us our clearest look yet at how the island’s history became entangled with sacrifice, survival, and something ancient lurking beneath it all.

Steven and Raven dig into Richard’s pact, the meaning of the island’s sacrifices, the mysterious entity behind them, and what Sarah discovers about the man she married. We also examine the episode’s striking historical look, its connections to colonial history and folklore, and what these revelations may tell us about everything happening in present-day Widow’s Bay.

And, naturally, Steven has a theory:

What if the evil on Widow’s Bay and the island itself aren’t the same thing?

Maybe the island isn’t the monster.

    Maybe it’s the cage.

    Apple’s official episode description:
“We apologize for the curfew. Please remain calm as we determine what’s happening. On a separate note, keep your teenagers inside after dark.”

A trip to Widow’s Bay can be unpredictable. Especially when you accidentally eat the wrong mushrooms.

This week, Steven and Raven investigate “What to Expect on Your Trip,” as Mayor Tom searches for answers surrounding Father Bryce’s death—and inadvertently takes a very different kind of journey after consuming black mushrooms intended for Wyck.

Meanwhile, Evan and his friends attempt a venture into the former Boogeyman house, because apparently nobody on this island has ever watched a horror movie.

We dig into Tom’s increasingly surreal investigation, the mysterious black mushrooms, what his hallucinations may reveal about him, and the growing evidence that Widow’s Bay has far more going on beneath the surface than anyone realizes.

Raven takes us into the psychology behind what Tom experiences, Steven adds nothing substatial to the discussion, and we examine the clues that might help us understand what the island is actually trying to tell its residents.

Stay curious. Stay observant. Investigation ongoing.
