  • Wise Up | Episode 175
    Aug 21 2026

In this episode, after recapping Scottie's dominant win in the first playoff event, the guys introduce a brand new series in the book of Proverbs called Wise Up! There is hardly a more practical book in the Bible, especially for men.

We are starting a brand new series in the book of Proverbs. Rather than providing some introductory comments to get acclimated, we are going to get right into the book and let Proverbs introduce itself.

    Topics covered:

    - Congrats to Webber on being named Assistant Captain for the Presidents Cup team!

    - Bible Caddie is hiring a Digital Content Producer in Nashville. Go to the career tab on biblecaddie.com.

    - Scottie wins in dominant fashion in the first playoff event in Memphis. Started the day with a 2 shot lead and won by 8.

    - If he wins player of the year he'd join Tiger as the only one to win it 5 straight times

    - Congrats to Stewart Cink on his 5th win of the year and Jack Whaley on winning the US Am at Merion with his dad on the bag

    - BMW Championship at Bellerive preview and picks

    - We are starting a brand new series in the book of Proverbs that we are calling Wise Up!

    - The proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel (Proverbs 1:1)

    - Outside of Jesus Christ, Solomon was the wisest man to ever live (1 Kings 3:12, 10:23)

    - God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding beyond measure, and breadth of mind like the sand on the seashore (1 Kings 4:29)

    - He also spoke 3,000 proverbs, and his songs were 1,005 (1 Kings 4:32)

    - Proverbs are short, memorable sayings that give us guidelines for godly living

    - Proverbs are principles not promises. If we expect them to function as promises, we will leave ourselves vulnerable to discouragement and despair.

    - These are not just wise sayings. They are God's sayings. They tell us how life really works in His world.

    - Biblical wisdom is right thinking that leads to right action so that we live in right relationship with God and others in the real world

    - The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7)

    - In him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge (Colossians 2:3)

    - Jesus became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption (1 Corinthians 1:30)

    - Topics this fall: wisdom, fear of the Lord, humility, sexuality, speech, self control, family, friendship, work, money, plans, and the gospel in Proverbs

Episode 174 | Get in the Game! | Matthew 9:36-38

In this episode, after a summer recap the guys welcome Jason Stubblefield, Bible Caddie's Director of Groups, to unpack Matthew 9:36-38. They invite the listeners to join them in carrying the good news about Jesus to the world of golf.

We are continuing our study in the Gospel of Matthew. Jesus Christ, the promised Messiah, the Son of the Living God, preached this message to show His followers what it looks like to be a disciple in His invisible kingdom as we live everyday lives in the real world.

    Topics covered:

    - We are back! Five weeks off and what the Lord has been teaching us this summer

    - Webb's summer: mission trip to Czech Republic with Providence Church planting new churches through sports camps

    - Ben's summer: time with Alistair Begg in Ohio, Senior British Open in Scotland, and hosting 20 boys for a night in the Word around Ecclesiastes 2

    - William's summer: first ever Bible Caddie event in the Czech Republic at a country club outreach

    - Romans 8:1 has captured Webb's attention afresh this summer: there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus

    - The Way of Repentance by Chris Braun: repentance as a way of life and an invitation into the refreshment that God has for us

    - Starting next week: Bible Caddie is headed into the Old Testament for the very first time with the Book of Proverbs

    - Whatever day of the month it is, read that Proverb. Just slow down on it. Find 2 or 3. Meditate on them.

    - The big push for today's episode: we want you to get in the game with us to carry the good news about Jesus to the world of golf

    - Matthew 9:36-38: when Jesus saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd

    - He saw past the quarter zips and bank accounts and posturing. He saw the brokenness and the hurt and the sin and the shame.

    - The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few

    - Over 150 million golfers in over 200 countries and well over 100 million who don't know Jesus

    - Romans 10:14-15: how are they to hear without someone preaching? How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news.

    - Bible Caddie Featured Groups: local Bible study groups that partner with the Bible Caddie Podcast to carry the good news of Jesus to your golf community

    - Over 200 groups in 34 states and 4 countries

    - Roughly 35% of featured group leaders are leading a Bible study for the first time ever

    - The Word of God does the work. Isaiah 55: when God's Word is proclaimed, it never returns void.

    - Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest (Matthew 9:38)

    - Here is your formal invitation: get in the game with us to carry the good news about Jesus to the world of golf

    - Golf was just the way that God got me to where he wanted me to be

    - I finally realized I'm giving all the glory to God

    - Why Bubba joined LIV and what he is trying to pour into his teammates
