At a time when crises are growing and feelings of helplessness are increasing, a generation of Lebanese-Canadian youth is choosing to take action. From Montreal, music is becoming a humanitarian act through an artistic initiative aimed at supporting children in South Lebanon during a critical moment. In this interview, we host pianist Noémie Chdid and opera singer Lara Jokhdar, who decided to move art from a space of expression to a space of impact through a solidarity concert designed to raise funds and turn them into tangible support on the ground. We discuss with them the true motivations behind this initiative, the importance of working through trusted organizations, and the most urgent humanitarian needs facing children today. We also reflect on the role of art in times of crisis and the responsibility of the new generation to transform empathy into action.

This week, Canada and Quebec witnessed an accumulation of sensitive political issues testing the state’s ability to manage crises. From airport security loopholes revealing flaws in the clearance approval system, to mounting pressure on the judicial system and the possibility of it becoming a legal liability for the government, questions are growing about the effectiveness of governance and the role of political parties. في هذا اللقاء، نعود إلى المؤتمر الشبيية المارونية لعام ٢٠٢٦ الذي نُظّم في في هاليفاكس، لكن من زاوية تجربة الشباب المغترب الذين يعيشون بين ثقافتين، ويحملون أسئلة مضاعفة حول الانتماء، الإيمان، والمعنى. نفتح الحوار مع الأب دانيال الذي يشارك انطباعاته بعد الاستماع إلى الشباب، ويركز الضوء على الرسائل التي يعتقد أن الكنيسة ما زالت بحاجة إلى سماعها من هذا الجيل الذي يعيش خارج بلده الأم. كذلك نستمع إلى كريستينا الشاطر وانطومي فخري، وعما صبية وشاب مغتربين يرويان تجربتهما الشخصية في أيام المؤتمر، وكيف تغيّر داخلهما شيء ما، ليس بلغة دينية، بل بلغة الحياة اليومية والتجربة الإنسانية، وما الذي لم يكن يتوقعان أن يحملا معهما بعد انتهاء هذه الأيام.------

Dans cette rencontre, nous revenons sur le Congrès de la jeunesse maronite de 2026, organisé à Halifax, mais à travers le regard des jeunes de la diaspora qui vivent entre deux cultures et portent des questionnements multiples sur l’appartenance, la foi et le sens de la vie.

Nous ouvrons le dialogue avec le père Daniel, qui partage ses impressions après avoir écouté les jeunes, et met en lumière les messages qu’il estime que l’Église a encore besoin d’entendre de cette génération vivant loin de son pays d’origine.

Nous écoutons également Christina Chater et Anthony Fakhry, deux jeunes de la diaspora, raconter leur expérience personnelle durant les journées du congrès, et expliquer comment quelque chose a changé en eux — non pas dans un langage religieux, mais dans celui du quotidien et de l’expérience humaine — ainsi que ce qu’ils ne s’attendaient pas à emporter avec eux après la fin de ces journées.
