Hi! I'm Kris Ashley! I'm an author, speaker, and tv and podcast host. When I was younger I went through trauma that severely impacted my life for a great many years. Then my life changed after I had a spiritual awakening. Over the past 20+ years I've studied everything from personal development, to the Law of Attraction, to Quantum Physics, to a multitude of healing modalities, and so much more.I’ve collected so much knowledge from such a wide variety of sources and put it all into practice in my own life. The knowledge was seemingly unrelated, yet as I kept diving deep, patterns began to emerge and I started to realize that it was all connected.Join me as I explore the intersection between personal development, spirituality, and science. By listening to this podcast, you will gain a new perspective, and, as a result, you will walk away knowing that by changing your perception, belief system, and unconscious programming, new pathways can open up before you. And most importantly you will know that you don’t have to be your past. You are a powerful creator and YOU create your own reality.Since my awakening, I have created the life of my dreams and decided I wanted to give back. This podcast, my book, and my coaching company were born. My book, Change Your Mind To Change Your Reality, was endorsed by Michael Beckwith, Marci Shimoff, Bob Doyle, John Gray, Anita Moorjani, and many others in the personal development and spiritual space. You can find my book in paperback, audiobook, and ebook.Come along on a journey with me as I show you how simply changing your mind can open up a whole new world of possibilities... mindset, law of attraction, spirituality, personal growth, resilience, personal development, quantum physics, belief system, consciousness, subconscious mind, subconscious programming, perspective, meditation, perception, NDE, Near Death Experience, A Course In Miracles, ACIM, past lives, soul contracts, epigenetic, motivation, forgiveness, healing, repressed emotions, relationships, abundance, wealth

  • Healing the Hidden Associations Behind Your Triggers with Owen Smithyman
    Sep 24 2026
Change Your Mind Podcast S3 E31What if some of your strongest emotional triggers aren’t really about what’s happening now—but about unconscious associations your nervous system formed in the past?In this episode of Change Your Mind with Kris Ashley, Kris sits down with Owen Smithyman, a Peak States Therapy practitioner, to explore trauma, emotional triggers, unconscious associations, somatic healing, and the hidden patterns that may continue influencing our choices long after the original experience has passed.Owen shares his unexpected journey from a highly analytical career in tech to exploring trauma and consciousness after the loss of his mother, anxiety, burnout, and years of experimenting with different approaches to healing.Together, Kris and Owen explore the concept of associational trauma—how the mind can connect certain people, environments, emotions, sounds, or experiences with danger or safety simply because they were present during an emotionally significant moment.Sometimes those associations protect us.Other times, they may leave us reacting to something neutral as though the original threat were still happening.Kris also gets vulnerable about one of her own triggers and participates in a live Peak States Therapy demonstration designed to explore the unconscious association behind that response. In this conversation, you’ll discover:• What Peak States Therapy is and how Owen approaches trauma• The difference between biographical, generational, and associational trauma• Why seemingly neutral things can become emotional triggers• How childhood experiences can shape what feels safe or unsafe later in life• Why we may repeatedly attract—or avoid—certain people and situations• How trauma can show up as anxiety, avoidance, resistance, or nervous system activation• The connection between somatic awareness and emotional healing• Kris’ live associational trauma demonstration• What Owen means by “peak states of consciousness”• How healing old patterns may change the way we respond to the presentThis episode is an invitation to become curious about your triggers instead of automatically judging them.Because sometimes the question isn’t simply:“Why am I reacting this way?”It may be:“What did my mind once learn to associate this with?”If this conversation resonates with you, share it with someone who is exploring trauma healing, nervous system regulation, personal development, subconscious patterns, or consciousness.👍 Like💬 Comment🔔 Subscribe↗️ Share the episode with someone who needs to hear itConnect with Owen and explore the resources mentioned in the episode through the links in the show notes.Explore more from Kris Ashley, author of Change Your Mind to Change Your Reality, and discover conversations at the intersection of personal development, spirituality, science, healing, mindset, and consciousness.CHAPTERS00:00 — Welcome to Change Your Mind03:24 — Owen Smithyman’s Journey From Tech to Healing14:01 — Growth, Trauma & Becoming Someone You Respect15:50 — Grief, Loss & Emotional Healing18:07 — Why Your Environment Can Affect Your Healing18:36 — What Is Peak States Therapy?24:27 — What Makes Peak States Therapy Different?26:55 — Associational Trauma & Hidden Emotional Triggers30:49 — Why We Can Be Attracted to Bad Patterns—or Avoid Good Ones32:05 — Kris Explores One of Her Own Triggers37:00 — Live Peak States Therapy Demonstration40:43 — What Changed After the Exercise?44:34 — Why Certain People & Patterns Keep Showing Up45:45 — Understanding Peak States of Consciousness52:27 — Owen’s Free Healing Resource & How to Connect54:08 — Final ThoughtsSEO KEYWORDS:trauma healing, emotional triggers, associational trauma, Peak States Therapy, nervous system regulation, subconscious mind, somatic healing, generational trauma, childhood trauma, unconscious patterns, emotional healing, trauma response, limiting beliefs, personal development, consciousness, self awareness, healing journey, Kris Ashley, Change Your Mind Podcast, Owen SmithymanFREE quiz: What's the Belief Pattern Holding You Back? https://www.krisashley.net/quizFREE letter from your future self: https://www.krisashley.net/future-selfBuy My Book: https://www.amazon.com/Change-Your-Mind-Reality-Relationships/dp/1738641600/ref=sr_1_1Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/changeyourmindwithkrisTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@changeyourmindwithkrisFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/changeyourmindwithkrisashleyWebsite: https://www.krisashley.net

  • Why Some People Chase Their Dreams and Others Don’t with Garth Delikan
    Sep 16 2026

What makes one person pursue a dream relentlessly while another person never gets started?

In S3 E30 of Change Your Mind, Kris Ashley welcomes Garth Delikan, speaker, media expert, lifestyle coach, and “The Lifestyle Guy,” for a conversation about fear, ambition, confidence, resilience, and what it really takes to create meaningful change.

Garth has lived through dramatic highs and lows. After building a successful career, he experienced professional betrayal, the collapse of a business, the end of a long marriage, depression, and anxiety. Instead of allowing those experiences to define the rest of his life, he began rebuilding—one decision at a time.

That journey eventually led him into kickboxing, personal training, nutrition, NLP, hypnotherapy, life coaching, public speaking, television, radio, and transformational work.

In this episode, Kris and Garth explore:

    • Why some people act on their dreams while others remain stuck
    • How comfort zones can quietly keep us from growing
    • Why courage is not the absence of fear
    • The importance of consistency, discipline, and momentum
    • Garth’s concept of living at “cause” instead of living at “effect”
    • Why personal responsibility can be empowering
    • How setbacks can become unexpected redirections
    • The role of confidence in pursuing new opportunities
    • Why making time for your goals matters more than making excuses
    • The morning routine that helped Garth change his emotional state
    • How trusting the next step can open doors you never expected

Garth also shares one of the biggest lessons from his own life: when something is no longer working, you don’t always have to force your way through it. Sometimes the answer is to step back, look at the situation differently, and find another route.

Kris and Garth also discuss whether those persistent pulls toward a new career, project, or direction may be signs worth listening to—and what can happen when we ignore them for too long.

If you’ve been sitting on an idea, waiting to feel ready, or wondering whether you have what it takes to make a change, this episode is an invitation to stop waiting for perfect conditions.

Believe in yourself. Take the next step. Keep moving.

Listen now to Why Some People Chase Their Dreams and Others Don’t with Garth Delikan.

And if this conversation resonates with you, share it with someone who needs a reminder that they are capable of changing direction.
