Featured Artist of the Week: Lumtz

Four years after his last full-length release, Argentine ambient composer and experimental artist Luciano Lamtzev aka Lumtz, returns with an instrumental album that feels less like a traditional record and more like sifting through someone’s backpack, journals, and photographs. To press play is to quietly step into someone’s inner world.

Released 17th July via We All Speak In Poems, ‘Tesoros’ is a collection of field recordings, intimate reflections, and fleeting moments gathered between 2023 and 2025. The result is a deeply meditative listening experience that unfolds with the patience of a long walk.

For Lumtz, who hails from the mountainous lakeside city of Bariloche, Argentina, the album is less about constructing a fictional atmosphere and more about documenting life as it happens. In many ways, ‘Tesoros’ feels like being a quiet observer in the studio: watching sounds accumulate while witnessing an artist process emotion in real time. It is an album that grows slowly, revealing layers through subtle textures, silence, and delicate sonic gestures.

Lumtz describes the record as “a diary of care and containment,” something that accompanied him through a transformative stretch of life. “It is an archive of walks, notes, dialogues, and small musical production experiments,” he explains, framing the album as both documentation and tribute. Each track carries traces of lived experience: footsteps through landscapes, quiet rooms, moments of reflection. That sense of movement is central to ‘Tesoros.’ Lumtz imagines listening itself as a form of spiritual exchange with the spaces we inhabit. Track by track, he pursues intimate sound design that leans on subtlety: gentle loops, raw recordings, and restrained atmospheres that feel grounded in reality.

Featured Artist of the Week: Giora

Multi-faceted artist Giora is gearing up to share their new project FREEWAY (EP) on 1 May, via their label Holypop, along with the evocative focus track ‘LONG LIVE MUSIC’. Giora is a London-based and born singer, songwriter, producer, performer, creative director, and sound artist who has shared stages with the likes of Isabella Lovestory, Varg, Babynymph, Elisabeth Elektra, Puce Mary, Kelora, and Felix Lee, while they’ve also received acclaim from tastemaker publications NOTION, CLASH Magazine, and Wonderland Magazine. Giora has enthralled audiences at CREEPY TEEPEE Festival in the Czech Republic, as well as KWIA in Berlin and Bike Jesus nightclub in Prague. Additionally, Giora has showcased their awe-inspiring take on experimental pop music all over London at venues such as Gossamer Fog, Spanners, The Divine and The Glory, while they were commissioned to craft sound installations which went on exhibition at Rich Mix and Stanley Arts in London. Giora also runs their own label Holypop, along with their live music event of the same name, which spotlights artists from the UK and European queer experimental scenes.

Giora’s artistic journey started as a child growing up in North London in the UK, when they decided to study classical piano, voice, and music theory. As a teenager, they ventured into writing and performing their own tracks, joining a band in their teens. When Giora lived and worked in New York, they enrolled in orchestral composition classes at Juilliard, which subsequently provided a solid foundation to teach themselves electronic music production, which eventually led to their debut release in 2020. Giora’s critically acclaimed debut album, It’s So Quiet But I Hear You, which was released in 2023, was championed by tastemaker publication CLASH Magazine. Giora’s groundbreaking take on experimental pop music merges evocative melodies and thought-provoking lyricism with bold, innovative sound design.

Featured Artist of the Week: Sky Holland

Emerging singer-songwriter Skye Holland shared her moving new single, ‘Automatic’, via Prodigy Records. Skye Holland has crafted a phenomenal career so far, with 5 of her singles appearing on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show US National Airplay Chart, while her single ‘So Close’ with Steve Kroeger climbed to #10 on the Billboard Dance/Mix Show Chart, and peaked at #3 on the Mediabase Dance chart too. Other powerful collaborations with Steve Kroeger, like ‘Through The Dark’ have landed support from Billboard Canada and EDM.com, while ‘Lie’ ascended to #27 on the Billboard Adult Top 40 and was featured as a breakout hit on Ryan Seacrest’s American Top 40 show. To date, Skye boasts 108 million streams across platforms, while her music has received support from national airplay from US radio stations SiriusXM and iHeart Radio, BBC Introducing (UK), and has also featured on US TV channels ABC and Music Choice, YTV, and Stingray Music in Canada, as well as SPACE DiVA and STAR Digio in Japan.

Skye Holland’s music has also garnered placements on the popular US television reality show Temptation Island, as well as The Young & The Restless. Based in Victoria, Canada, she has collaborated with a range of globally renowned producers, including Jaxomy, Tep No, KDrew, Castion, Thom Merlin, Crystal Rock, and BRDGS. She has also performed alongside singer-songwriter Vassy at Neighbours Nightclub in Seattle, sharing the stage with prolific chart-topping, Emmy-nominated producer and DJ Mako. Skye Holland’s career started at ten years old while she was living in Tokyo, Japan. Skye was scouted and selected to be part of a Japanese teen pop group called HappyNs. At 12 years old, she moved to Victoria, Canada, where her love for music grew exponentially. Known for her incredible dynamism, Skye draws inspiration from the likes of Jhene Aiko and PinkPantheress. ‘Automatic’ is sure to strike a chord with fans of Pink Pantheress, Fred Again.., and Roy Blair.

Featured Artists and Label of the Week: Paul Haslinger, Christian Wittman of Noion.

Founded by Emmy-nominated composer Paul Haslinger (Tangerine Dream) and French composer Christian Wittman (Lightwave), noion is a newly formed record label redefining listening with atmospheric minimalism, sound exploration, and genre-defying music – from ambient to contemporary classical and drone. Rooted in a shared history that stretches across Austria, France, and California, the label is the culmination of a long creative relationship and the beginning of a new chapter, driven by independence, experimentation, and a clear artistic vision.

“We believe sound should function as a field of experience rather than a singular focus. Our catalogue is a curated sonic geography where ambient drift meets mathematical precision, and the cinematic meets the tactile. Each album will emphasize clarity, silence, and space, offering a meditative journey that invites deep, mindful listening,” states Haslinger.

The inaugural releases on noion are inspired by two of the most celebrated poets of the 19th and 20th century; French Symbolist poet Stéphane Mallarmé (1842-1898) and Argentine writer and poet, Jorge Luis Borges (1899–1986).

Paul Haslinger is an Austrian composer and former member of Tangerine Dream, known for blending electronic and orchestral elements into immersive, emotionally resonant soundscapes. His acclaimed solo work, including ‘Exit Ghost’ (2020) and his score for the BAFTA-winning ‘Somewhere Boy’ (2022) reflect his boundary-pushing approach to music. Christian Wittman is a founding member of Lightwave, a French group that forged a unique creative path in the field of electronic and ambient music. As a solo artist, he has released a string of projects that sit at the intersection of ambient, atmospheric classical, and minimalism.

For Montreal’s lobono, music is an ongoing, primal search for meaning. After years spent behind the scenes co-producing for Hansom Ēli and scoring for contemporary dance and film, lobono has refined his sound and approach to music. His journey led him to start his solo project in late 2023. When creating, he doesn’t focus on a specific genre, but on the capacity to translate emotions into sound and share something genuine with the world.

Featured Artist: David August

Born in Hamburg, to an Italian mother and a West German father, August started his musical education at just five years of age, following in his professional pianist dad’s footsteps and dedicating himself to the instrument and to classical music. But life’s course is rarely a straight line; when August was still a teen, he became fascinated with electronic sounds, teaching himself to DJ and producing dancefloor-friendly tracks that made him a household name. Since that point, he’s been routinely challenging himself to refine his artistic outlook, establishing the 99CHANTS label in 2018 as an outpost for bold, genre-agnostic experimental music and exploring a variety of expressions as a solo artist, from the beatless ‘DCXXXIX A.C.’ to ‘VĪS’, a multi-disciplinary chronicle that linked sound, dance and language itself, culminating in an elaborate performance at London’s Barbican Centre.

‘Hymns’ emerges from August’s many attempts to “listen to the instrument”, letting the piano itself, rather than someone else’s score, guide his hands. And it evolved over countless improvisations where he would sit day after day, night after night, playing freely and recording the results to his phone. Listening back, he was able to formulate a structure that he later captured more professionally, but still on improvisational basis, placing microphones strategically to pick up the unique creaks and resonances. Even the sound of the piano is distinctive, prepared intentionally by August take on a warm and percussive character that provoked him to use the instrument in a completely new way. That unique sound is evident on the album’s first track, where August’s rounded chords gently punctuate his weightless soundscape of echo traces and eerie resonances. Placing objects on the piano’s strings, August is able to make the notes buzz and rattle to form rhythms or delicately skew the pitch.

Take ‘Hymn III’ for example, August’s skills are evident from the way he plays, but he’s unusually controlled, letting the piano’s resonant notes decay in thrumming trails between his phlegmatic but dextrous runs. And on ‘Hymn VI’, August creates a muted, woody beat that languidly dances around his skeletal, meaningful notes. Not exactly ambient music as such, ‘Hymns’ is a selection of autobiographical cues and hazy visions of the future that conclude a period of soul-searching for August. If ‘VĪS’ was one side of the coin, ‘Hymns’ is the other.
