The laws concerning food and cleanliness are teaching the people what it means to be holy, why to be holy, and how to be holy. We answer these questions from this passage in this sermon.

Paul in this passage addressed Jewish pride and presumption by talking about God's righteous judgment. In this sermon, we look at God's judgment, Paul's purpose, and our hope. We find that Paul's purpose is to convince the Jews of their sin and misery by talking about the nature of God's judgment. Finally, we find our hope on the Day of Judgment in the gracious acts and works of God in Christ.

Leviticus 10 is bookended by the sins of Nadab and Abihu and Eleazar and Ithamar, priests of God. The Lord's response to these sins teaches us something about the holiness of God, the priesthood of Christ, and the reverence of the Lord's people.

Paul's discussion of homosexuality in this passage yields five reasons that this act and its desires are sinful. It is a result of the fall, an object of God's wrath, contrary to nature, an erroneous view of love, and an expression of dishonorable and destructive passions. After seeking understanding on the reasons, we ask how are Christians to respond and what are they to do.

This passage sets forth the 3 conditions for dwelling in the presence of God: atonement, obedience, and having God's name placed upon you. The great news is that Christ has fulfilled all of those conditions for us, the benefits of which are received through faith alone.

Paul in this passage details the nature of the Greek's sin and highlights the consequences of it. He shows the evil of their sin and that it deserves death, a physical, spiritual, and eternal death. We from Paul's words realize we are that man and we must rest in Christ's saving work to free us from the power, presence, and product of our sin.

The people of God would not understand the salvific nature of Gods actions throughout history if He had not sent for them prophets to teach them. The prophets of the old testament are precursors to the ultimate prophet that is Christ. Without Jesus' prophetic office we would never be able to comprehend the salvation that was accomplished in his priestly role. As our priest, Christ fulfills the things that were prophesized before hand.

From the first chapter of John we see who Jesus is. He is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world. The Holy Spirit testifies to the truth that Jesus atones for our sins by taking The Father's wrath upon Himself. Because Jesus is fully man and fully God, He is the exclusive way of salvation. Jesus is also the Christ, meaning that He is the full accomplishment and fulfilment of all the Old Testament promises. Lastly, John testifies that Jesus is the Son of Man teaching that He is fully man and fully God which is the fullest revelation of who God is.
