  • Why Is There No Cure for Vitiligo? (Ep. 80)
    Oct 1 2026

A paused drug program. A reasonable suspicion. Then the question under it: why is there still no cure?

In this episode, Yan Valle argues there is no hidden pill in a glass tower. Companies are not charities, and they are not sitting on a cure because a chronic treatment pays better. The harder account is ordinary. Academia funds what it can publish. Biotech bets on the next round. Pharma keeps what can survive the regulators and the market. Insurers pay for this year’s budget. Patients inherit the sum.

A program can die before anyone knows if the biology was right — a bet on another bet, ten years out, before the casino is built. Early treatment of active vitiligo sounds obvious, and still loses to step therapy and a planning horizon shorter than a child’s year. The price on the receipt was not set by one hand. And “they buried the cure” is easier to air than a system with no villain.

Misconduct is real. This is not a defense of it. But systems before conspiracy is usually the better place to start.

  • Your Skin Walks In First — Interviews, Bias, and Workplace Rights (Ep. 79)
    Oct 1 2026

Your skin may enter the room first. Your job is to make sure your work takes over the conversation.

Visible vitiligo does not change competence. It can still change interviews, promotions, and how “professional” gets judged — especially when the face is involved. That is a social problem, not a skills problem. Social problems need strategy, boundaries, and sometimes a little documentation.

In this episode we cover the unglamorous playbook: how to build a case instead of a vibe, what to say if someone stares or asks the wrong question, when disclosure helps and when it doesn’t, and which workplace protections may apply in the US and the UK.

Bias exists. So do portfolios, notes, and the right to leave.

Your skin is not the product.
