  • Summary

  • Audible presents Desi Down Under, an Audible Original starring Prajakta Koli, Adarsh Gourav, and Taaruk Raina. Packed with adventure, romance, and comedy, Desi Down Under follows childhood best friends Devan (Adarsh Gourav), Meenu (Prajakta Koli), and Meenu's party animal twin brother Rahul (Taaruk Raina) as they go on their first trip abroad, training as lifesavers at the stunning Coogee beach in Sydney, Australia.

Devan is determined to overcome death-defying trials in the shark-infested Sydney surf to earn his Bronze Medallion in lifesaving, so he can bring these lifesaving skills home and make his fishing community in Mangalore safer. Luckily Devan’s got his super driven bestie Meenu by his side. They're inseparable and both secretly have a huge crush on each other. They just don’t know how to tell each other!

Meenu is a rebel who, despite her conservative parents' wishes for her to have a "regular career", finds her calling in Sydney on the waves. Meenu's twin brother, Rahul, who came on the trip as a chaperone for Meenu, is ready to date, party, and enjoy Sydney's queer dating scene to the max. No one can stop his wild antics, or help him as he faces one of the scariest experiences of all: falling in love. The trio’s conflicting goals in Australia become a real issue when their coach Shaunie reveals they all need to work together and qualify as a team to earn the Bronze Medallion. That’s right - if one of them doesn’t succeed, all three of them fail.

Desi Down Under is written and created by Indian-Aussie screenwriter Mithila Gupta, based on an idea by Mithila Gupta and Mala Sujan, directed by Mantra and produced by MnM Talkies.

Greatly narrated and good storyline

Greatly narrated and good storyline. As a desi who moved to Sydney 3 years back, i can relate to a lot of things. Looking forward for the second edition when Deven will go back to Sydney and meet Meenu..

What a lovely story

The chemistry of love, the friendship, that teacher student relationship, everything is laid out beautifully.

A Breath of Fresh air

The actors have really performed well. The story is unique and directed well. Moral messages are also underlying in this story.

The most disappointing yet from M&M Talkies

After the likes of Mine and Yours and Kaali Awaazein, I had high expectations from M&M Talkies. Desi Down Under has totally disappointed me. The dialogues and the main voice cast are immature and I couldn't relate to them at all. Including foreign cast didn't help this wannabe series as well. The saving grace is the title track.

Cliched and banal

A good cast of characters let down by a bad story and script. Too tacky for words. This series simply reinforced stereotypes with its one-dimensional characters. The one star is for the effort the voice actors put in to salvage this juvenile effort.
