• When Fear Loses Its Grip
    May 15 2026

This is the episode Raymond has been building toward all week. After four episodes on fear — what it feels like, why it happens physically, how it becomes a companion, and what it looks like when it turns to anger — this final episode closes with something real.

Not the absence of fear. Not pretending the hard things didn't happen. But the testimony of someone who walked through the fire and discovered that God was already on the other side.

Raymond shares the story of Khloe showing up at the pond in her sparkly blue dress. And why that moment meant everything.

    Key Scriptures:

    • 2 Timothy 1:7 — God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power love and a sound mind
    • Deuteronomy 31:8 — The Lord will personally go ahead of you
    • Isaiah 41:10 — Do not be afraid for I am with you

    In This Episode:

    • Why living without fear doesn't mean never feeling afraid
    • The difference between fear as a feeling and faith as a choice
    • How fear gradually loses its grip — not all at once but like dawn coming
    • Raymond's personal story — the weeks after April 2nd, adjusting to life alone, and Khloe at the pond
    • The four words that became the foundation of everything — "I am not done with you yet"
    • A preview of next week — what happens after the crisis passes and why trauma is the next conversation

  • When Fear Makes You Angry at God
    May 14 2026

There are moments when fear doesn't just make you sad. It makes you angry. And sometimes — if you're really honest — that anger gets directed at God.

In this episode Raymond shares the most vulnerable moment of his entire journey — the day Wendy went home to be with the Lord on April 2nd, 2024, the day his daughter Amanda drove back to Texas, and what happened when he was completely alone for the first time in 34 years.

And why that raw, honest cry directed at God was not faithlessness — it was one of the most real conversations he has ever had with Him.

    Key Scriptures:

    • Psalm 22:1-2 — My God my God why have you abandoned me
    • Lamentations 3:32-33 — Though he brings grief he also shows compassion
    • Romans 8:38-39 — Nothing can separate us from the love of God

    In This Episode:

    • Why fear sometimes turns into anger — and why that's honest not faithless
    • What the Bible says about crying out to God in anger
    • David's raw cry in Psalm 22 — words Jesus Himself would later speak from the cross
    • Raymond's personal story — April 2nd, the empty house, and screaming at God
    • The four words that came back in his spirit — and why everything shifted
    • Why the opposite of faith is not anger at God but walking away from Him entirely

  • When Fear Becomes Your Companion
    May 13 2026

There's a difference between a moment of fear and fear that moves in and stays. Sometimes the threat doesn't pass — and fear becomes a constant companion following you into every room, every waiting room, every long drive.

In this episode we talk about what happens when fear stops being a spike and starts being a weight — and what God does when fear has moved in and won't leave.

Raymond continues his story — the drive to Buffalo in a snowstorm, 48 inches of snow, and the oncologist's office where Stage IV became real.

    Key Scriptures:

    • John 20:19 — Jesus appears to the disciples behind locked doors saying peace be with you
    • Philippians 4:6-7 — Do not be anxious about anything but in everything by prayer
    • Psalm 34:18 — The Lord is close to the brokenhearted

    In This Episode:

    • The difference between a moment of fear and sustained fear as a companion
    • How long term fear affects sleep, prayer, Scripture and your sense of God's presence
    • The disciples hiding behind locked doors after the crucifixion — and what Jesus did
    • Raymond's personal story — the drive to Buffalo in a snowstorm, 48 inches of snow overnight, and the Stage IV diagnosis
    • How to invite God's presence into the room where fear has taken up residence

  • When Fear Feels So Physical
    May 12 2026

If you've ever been in a moment of real fear you know it's not just in your head. Your heart races. Your hands shake. Your thoughts scatter. And for many Christians that physical response brings a second layer of guilt — wondering if their faith were stronger would their body react this way?

In this episode we talk about why fear feels so physical — from both Scripture and from how God actually designed the human body. And why your physical response to fear is not a failure of faith.

Raymond shares the morning he woke up alone, opened his medical app, and saw the cancer markers that changed everything — and the two hour drive back to Williamsport that followed.

    Key Scriptures:

    • Psalm 55:4-5 — My heart pounds in my chest, fear and trembling overwhelm me
    • 2 Corinthians 12:9 — My power is made perfect in weakness
    • Philippians 4:7 — The peace of God which surpasses all understanding

    In This Episode:

    • Why fear feels physical and why that's not a spiritual failure
    • How God designed the fight or flight response and why it's not a malfunction
    • What happens when the alarm system gets triggered by things beyond immediate physical danger
    • David's panic attack described in Psalm 55 — a man after God's own heart
    • Raymond's personal story — the cancer markers, the phone call to his doctor friend, and the longest two hour drive of his life

  • When Fear Takes Over
    May 11 2026

Fear has a way of hijacking the moment. It doesn't ask permission. It doesn't wait for logic to catch up. In this episode we talk about what the Bible says about fear — and what God does when it takes over completely.

Through the stories of Gideon hiding in a winepress and the disciples panicking in a storm, we discover that fear never disqualified anyone from God's presence. In fact fear is often the exact moment God shows up.

Raymond also shares the personal moment his own fear began — a late night emergency room visit and a Cat Scan that changed everything.

    Key Scriptures:

    • Judges 6:12 — The Lord appears to Gideon in his hiding place
    • Matthew 8:25 — The disciples cry out to Jesus in the storm
    • Isaiah 41:10 — Do not be afraid for I am with you

    In This Episode:

    • Why fear is not a sign of weak faith
    • The story of Gideon — hiding in a winepress when God called him a mighty hero
    • The disciples in the storm — experienced fishermen terrified on familiar waters
    • What both stories reveal about how God responds to fear
    • Raymond's personal story — the moment fear took over in an emergency room

  • What If Burnout Isn't the End of Your Story?
    May 8 2026

What If Burnout Isn't the End of Your Story?

What if the thing that burned you out isn't the end of your story — but the beginning of a better one?

That's not a platitude. It's what actually happened.

In this final episode of the week, I share what came after the breaking point — the season of waiting, seeking, and slowly beginning to hear God again. I share how my wife Wendy and I began praying differently, not asking God to bless our plans but asking Him to define them entirely. And I share two things that happened during that season that I couldn't have seen coming — one heartbreaking, one that felt like an unmistakable answer to prayer.

We also spend time with Joseph — a man whose story is essentially one long string of setbacks that God was quietly weaving into something none of Joseph's circumstances suggested was possible. Genesis 50:20 is one of the great verses in all of Scripture, and I think it lands differently when you've lived through something that looked like loss and turned out to be something else entirely.

If you've been in a hard season and you're trying to figure out what God is doing — or whether He's doing anything at all — this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • What it looks like to seek God intentionally after burnout strips everything away
    • How praying for a life instead of just a job changed everything
    • What a season of caregiving taught me about what actually matters
    • How Joseph's story reframes what looks like loss in our own lives
    • What it means to let God redirect rather than rushing back to what's familiar

  • I Knew It Was Coming - But It Still Broke Me
    May 7 2026

I Knew It Was Coming… But It Still Broke Me

Sometimes you can feel something coming long before it arrives.

For two months, I walked into work every day carrying the quiet, growing sense that my job was slipping away. No announcement. No official word. Just that unmistakable tension that tells you something is about to change. And when you're already burned out — already running on empty — that kind of uncertainty doesn't just sit on you. It starts to crush you.

    And then it happened.

In this episode, I share one of the most vulnerable moments of that season — losing my job, and what my best friend said to me afterward that I wasn't prepared to hear. It reframed everything. Because sometimes what feels like loss is actually rescue. And sometimes the breaking point isn't the end of the story — it's where God finally gets our full attention.

We also spend time with Job — a man who lost everything without warning, without explanation, and without easy answers. What I find most comforting about his story isn't that everything worked out. It's that he didn't pretend it was okay. He grieved. He questioned. He wrestled out loud. But he never let go.

If you're in a season where something feels like it's slipping, or you're still trying to make sense of something that already fell apart, this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • What two months of anticipating job loss does to a person who's already burned out
    • Why breaking points often reveal what we've quietly been depending on
    • What Job's story teaches us about holding on to God when nothing makes sense
    • How to recognize God's rescue even when it arrives looking like loss

  • Rest Isn't What You Think It Is
    May 6 2026

Rest Isn't What You Think It Is

You've taken time off before. You've tried to slow down. You've told yourself you just needed a break.

So why are you still tired?

Because there's a difference between stopping and being restored. And most of what we call rest is really just stopping — changing our location, slowing our pace, stepping away from the noise. But if we don't turn toward something that actually restores us, we just end up sitting in a quieter version of the same emptiness.

In this episode, we talk about what real rest actually is — and why so many of us keep chasing it without ever quite finding it. I share what happened during a weekend away in Houston, when I realized I had left the work behind but was still carrying every bit of the weight. And we spend time with one of the most quietly powerful verses about Jesus — the simple habit that kept Him from burning out even when the needs around Him never stopped.

Real rest isn't found in inactivity. It's found in connection. And if you've been trying to recover without really returning to God in the middle of it, this episode is for you.

    What we cover:

    • Why stopping and being restored are two very different things
    • The habit Jesus built into His life before He needed it — and what we can learn from it
    • The difference between stepping away from noise and stepping toward restoration
    • What it looks like to actually come to God in the middle of exhaustion

    Free Resource

If today's episode resonated with you, I've put together a free guide on burnout — what it really is, what it costs us, and how to begin finding your way back to restoration. It's my gift to you, and I hope it meets you right where you are.
