  • Episode 33: Jesus, Pride, and the Blessings That Lead Us Away
    Mar 4 2026

Temptation doesn’t always come dressed as something bad.
Sometimes it looks like a blessing.

In this episode of the Everyday Truths Podcast, we finish our journey through the temptations of Jesus in Matthew 4 and uncover why the most dangerous temptations are the ones that feel justified, spiritual, or even good.

    We explore:

    • How temptation meets legitimate needs in illegitimate ways
    • Why pride and self-reliance quietly erode our relationship with God
    • The danger of choosing shortcuts over calling
    • Why Satan’s offers often look like blessings
    • How Jesus resisted temptation and protected what mattered most

Jesus was offered power, validation, and relief — things His people wanted and expected.
But instead of taking the shortcut, He chose obedience, trust, and purpose.

This episode is for anyone who’s tired of chasing things that look good but leave them empty — and who wants to become an overcomer by following the way of Jesus.

  • Episode 32: Jesus, Pride and Twisted Truth (The Temptation to Prove Yourself)
    Feb 25 2026

Pride doesn’t usually feel like pride.
    It feels like being right.
    Being justified.
    Being better.
    Being seen.

In this episode of the Everyday Truths Podcast, we continue our conversation on temptation by looking at the second temptation of Jesus — when He’s challenged to jump from the top of the temple and prove who He is.

    We talk about:

    • Why pride always looks like truth from the inside
    • How Scripture can be twisted to support the wrong agenda
    • The danger of testing God instead of trusting Him
    • How pride damages relationships with God, others, and ourselves
    • Why Jesus refused to take the shortcut — even when it made sense

Jesus didn’t overcome temptation by proving Himself.
He overcame it by protecting relationship and trusting the Father.

This episode is Part 2 in our temptation series.

  • Episode 31: How Jesus Overcame Temptation (And How You Can Too)
    Feb 18 2026

    Temptation isn’t rare—and it isn’t random.
It meets real needs in the wrong way.

In this episode of the Everyday Truths Podcast, we begin a multi-episode journey through one of the most relatable moments in Scripture: Jesus being tempted in the wilderness.

Using the story of the marshmallow experiment, real-life examples, and Matthew 4, we explore:

Why temptation often feels reasonable and justifiable

How Jesus faced real human desire—and didn’t give in

The pattern we all know: we see, we want… and then we take

Why temptation often means meeting legitimate needs in illegitimate ways

How Scripture, the Spirit, and relationship protect us from self-destruction

Jesus wasn’t immune to temptation—but He overcame it.
And the same tools He used are available to you.

This is Part 1 of a series on temptation, self-control, and protecting what matters most.

  • Why Kids Need Real Faith Conversations (Introducing Everyday Truths Kids)
    Feb 11 2026

This is a special one-off episode of the Everyday Truths Podcast—and it’s all about kids.

In this episode, I’m sharing the heart behind the launch of the Everyday Truths Kids Podcast, a brand-new podcast created to help kids grow a simple, real faith—and help families have meaningful conversations together.

This podcast started with real conversations in everyday life: in the car, during girls’ nights, and through honest questions kids already ask. It’s shaped by my own children’s curiosity, courage, and desire to share faith with other kids.

    We talk about:

    • Why faith conversations with kids matter more than we realize
    • Why parents and trusted adults are already equipped—even without perfect answers
    • How modeling real, imperfect faith makes a lasting impact
    • Why you don’t need to outsource spiritual conversations with your kids

Whether you’re a parent or simply someone who has kids in your life, this episode is an encouragement that you are the right person to have these conversations.

  • Beyond the Manger
    Dec 17 2025

Christmas doesn’t end when we pack up the nativity and drag the tree to the curb. The arrival of Jesus wasn’t just a sweet, sentimental moment—it was a cosmic one. In this final episode of the Christmas series, we talk about how the story goes beyond the manger into our identity, our peace, and the way we walk into January and beyond.

    In this episode we’ll explore:

Why the angels’ announcement to the shepherds was a cosmic event, not just a cute scene (Luke 2:8–14)

What it really means that “the Word became flesh” and how I explain that to my kids (John 1:1, 14)

How Jesus’ coming gives us a new identity as children of God, not spiritual employees trying to earn our keep (John 1:12; Romans 8:15–17)

The difference between fitting in and belonging—and why Christmas anchors us in real belonging

How Jesus brings a peace the world cannot manufacture, especially for those carrying heaviness this season (Isaiah 9:6–7; Philippians 4:7; Galatians 5:22–23)

Why suffering is not the end of the story, and how Revelation 21 gives us hope when life feels anything but “merry and bright”

If you’re feeling let down after Christmas, weighed down by grief or stress, or just wondering how any of this actually impacts your real life in January—this conversation is for you.

  • Promise Becomes Personal
    Dec 10 2025

In Week 2 of our Christmas series, we’re zooming in on how real people responded when the news of Jesus interrupted their lives.

We’ll walk through the stories of Mary, Joseph, Zechariah, Elizabeth, the shepherds, the magi, and Herod—and what their responses reveal about faith, doubt, control, courage, and joy. From Mary’s honest questions to Joseph’s costly obedience, from Zechariah’s skepticism to Elizabeth’s celebration, each person gives us a different window into how we might respond to Jesus, too.

By the end, I’ll invite you to ask a simple but challenging question:

How am I actually responding to Jesus in this season—not just in theory, but in my real, everyday life?

  • Before the Manger: The Bigger Story of Christmas
    Dec 3 2025

We tend to start the Christmas story with a manger, some shepherds, and maybe an angel choir. But the story of Christmas actually began much earlier—when brokenness first entered the world.

In this first episode of the Christmas series, we zoom out and look at the big picture of Christmas:
how sin fractured our relationship with God, how shame entered the story, and how God immediately began a rescue plan that would one day lead to Jesus.

    We’ll walk through:

    • The moment brokenness entered the story (Genesis 3)
    • Why sin always hurts and breaks relationships
    • God’s “passionate commitment” to His people (Isaiah 9:6–7)
    • The promise of a righteous King who would make us right with God (Jeremiah 23:5–6)
    • What it really means that “the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us” (John 1:14)

If you’re walking into this season feeling a little worn out, ashamed, or unsure how your story fits into the “Christmas cheer,” this episode is for you. The Christmas story reminds us that when everything looked broken, God wasn’t finished yet—and He’s not finished with you either.

    Scriptures: Genesis 3, Isaiah 9:6–7, Jeremiah 23:5–6, John 1:14

  • When You Don't Know the Next Right Step - Everyday Truths Podcast
    Nov 19 2025

In this episode, Wes and I dig into something we all wrestle with: how to make decisions when you’re stuck, overwhelmed, or overthinking every option. We talk about the ways we’re wired differently—he’s the “slow down, think it through” brake pedal, and I’m the “let’s move and figure it out on the way” gas pedal—and how God speaks to each of us uniquely.

    You’ll hear us unpack:

    • What to do when your mind feels crowded
    • Why obedience matters more than outcomes
    • How to trust God with steps that don’t make sense yet
    • How to bring your wiring (not someone else’s) into your faith

    Plus, a special announcement:
